here it is december and i still haven’t properly documented halloween this year!! i mean… who am i?! i will say… this year had no organized theme beyond the natural manifestation of, “it’s luca’s world and we’re all just passing through.” haha! but no… seriously. we were super casual about it this year, and sometimes we just need years like that! however… lu bunny definitely had his own preferences…
…i threw on my best prairie woman getup! just last minute stuff i casually have on hand because i am lowkey part prairie woman, okay. [actually, i borrowed M’s bonnet!] rocco was spiderman! and though he was at one point semi-displeased that it wasn’t the black spideyverse version, he has continued to don the costume routinely, so i call it a win. [purchased when he was out with steven, full cred to the man shoppers!] 🙂 and maddalena! she went as stella!! but she could’ve also doubled as minnie. we just love us some little black pups around here! and nobody loves pups more than luca… right? right?!???! so, i truly thought i was nailing it when i ordered him a puppy costume. guaranteed win. it’ll be his favorite outfit!
ummm… no. he tried it on before his nap that day, looked in the mirror, and seemed happy at first!!! but it wasn’t long before he was suddenly furious. so, we removed it for the nap scenario… but even after his nap he just yelled, “no puppy!!!” at any suggestion of putting it back on. i meeean. i couldn’t believe it! no puppy?!! i honestly think he was offended that i would imply that a dog costume was needed to make him more pup like. bless his puppy heart! he wouldn’t dare entertain such a notion! he IS a puppy at his core, and who am i to elicit such faux canine foolishness!
…i just love my babies so dang much. aaand so! we hit up our favorite antique store with my mom, visited my brother & sis-in-law, and as the afternoon meandered into evening, we trick-or-treated. steven’s default costume lately is that of a construction worker, not to be confused with his real job, also in construction… man with fancy coffee inside his office. and! of course… that baby boy of ours remained confidently costume-less the entire day through! because third babies? they do what they want. [and adorably so.]
these are the days, man. these. are. the. days.

I’m with you…I’m sincerely hoping to do better in this coming year documenting life. The costumes are darling and so are the kiddos!
