…from my very first peony plant i got with maddalena when she was luca’s age!! it’s funny how she’s changed since then. she has bigger petals and a bit of a deeper pink!! also, this lady is a prime example of how much peonies hate to be moved. i have moved her at least 5 times. in the ground. in pots. new house. she’s finally been in one spot for a longer period now, but only gave me one bloom! it also hasn’t helped that dogs maybe trampled the peonies a few times before i put garden fencing around them. anyway! i gave my mom a white peony plant that same time i got this one. she planted it in one spot and never moved it, and hers has too many blooms to count! ahhh haha. i always learn the hard way!
also!! i bought a microwave flower-pressing kit and figured out how to press this gal! she’s now framed on my wall, along with a white blossom off my mom’s plant!!! i’ve had so much fun playing around with flowers this way. i’m basically addicted.
this beauty came from a root transplant from my grandmother’s peonies in pittsburgh!! i honestly thought the dogs had destroyed this one, and it was THE BEST surprise when i saw her coming up this year!! my grandmom passed away a year ago, now, and i especially love thinking of her these days as i continue to test my green thumb… growing some old things and some new things. she was a garden queen!! also, that was her ring i plopped in the middle of the blossom. 🙂
anyway! one could argue that peony season is the real happiest season of all! and oh… it’s so so fleeting. peonies! i miss you already! do come back next year more abundantly, please! haha.

Oh my word I love this! One bloom is better than no blooms! So glad it has survived all the moves and still showed off a little flair!
