…only one tiny smidgen left of school until we get to keep our bestest girlfriend with us forever and ever and ever!!!! or at least… for all of christmas break!
granted, she will be all kinds of bittersweet about break, and i remember that feeling, myself! she loves her friends and she loves school. but! we are all better humans with her around, let’s be honest. she’s helpful and caring and her brothers are just crazy about her! i’ll never quite understand why we send our kiddos away the minute they become able to actively participate in the running of a home. you know, as we’ve gone about collecting and re-reading the original american girl books, we got to the kirsten story [set in the 1800s] where kirsten stayed home from school for a while to help her mom with their new baby! and ahh… how today’s world differs. i’m not saying i would survive that era, but i’m not saying i wouldn’t! i am much more of a samantha, though… which leads me to the fact that i bought a gorgeous gold and white victorian era wash pitcher a few days ago without even realizing what i was doing, but! i digress!!
anyway! back to reality. 😉 let me tell a small tale here for a minute! i woke up this morning to maddalena running in my room panicking, yelling, “THEY’RE HEEEERE,” because wow… i vaguely remember hitting snooze on my alarm and remaining mostly unconscious up until that very moment! so, la la la la, there arose such a clatter, i sprang from my bed to see what was the matter… aaaand lo and behold, our dearest friends and carpool other halves were already in our driveway and i! was! a! zombie! bless that baby girl of mine, she was gotten entirely ready [for the most part, minus some details], and i felt so bad, but was honestly so proud. and! so tired!
so, bring on christmas break, i say!!! with my real life american girl doll. and my precious bunny boys. [one of which is watching the trash truck, the other playing with dog food] and allllll kinds of christmas planning left to do! so much. so very much! so, bring on coffee, too!
xoxoxo

We have four more days of school and then we are off for something like… three weeks?! Planning a cruise a few days after Christmas is the very best! I’m sure I’ll be pulling my hair out but I’ll be so happy they are all home! And I can’t believe she got herself ready! Wow. I mean. My kids would be clueless. You must be doing something right!
