…well well well! the human i married had a birthday last weekend!! thankfully, it fell on a friday this year, which made it a nice start to a whole birthday weekend. he took rocco with him for a mini-work day that day [and rocco had the best. time. ever. at work with daddy!] while i summoned a camping themed dinner gathering farmward. 🙂
sidenote: this is what i love about our family birthdays. we rarely have some elaborate plan. it’s more like… two days beforehand we sometimes think of a theme which materializes [mostly by my mother, also sister] by the time the birthday person arrives. haha!
anyway, steven had mentioned having a camp fire later that night, but funny enough, i was already mentally preparing to alert the troops that a camping theme was to be had. my dad got the fire pit all nice and revitalized… and then! the actual camp fire got rained out until the next night. but that’s okay, because we whipped up some construction paper fires to roast cotton ball marshmallows over!
oh! i cannot fail to mention that the gentlemen of the bunch first gathered for beverages at our house while steven grilled up his favorite special occasion meat… beef tenderloin. meanwhile, the ladies and babies whipped up sides and finalized decor. then we all gathered, poured the red, made loud noises! fed the people. fed the german shepherds. gave the gifties! wrangled the bunbuns. you know! staple party elements!
it was a lovely weekend altogether, and we are soooo thankful for steven/dada at age 34. he’s a good one! and we shall keep him! also, look at those plaid little chillen pies. finest collab ever, if i do say so, myself. 😉
we love you, babe! hope your first week as a big grown up 34 year old has been faaantastic! actually, i know it has, because we did not buy 5 tires, and it’s man party weekend. boom. love you!
