…oh my goodness. this is my favorite time of year!!!
and wild blackberries, they don’t come free, you know… which is kiiiind of the best part. you spot the juiciest looking berry just a bit out of reach, and you’re willing to risk all the thorns and bugs and poison ivy looking leaves in the sweltering july heat because you really. MUST. have it!!! it’s amazing. magical. and hot. so so so hot! i love it. also, i thought baby luca would tire of this adventure pretty quickly being a baby and all… but he laughed and kicked his leggies the whole time!
anyway, we usually come away with some mosquito bites, a few minor cuts, and a whole bunch of beautiful berries just begging to be baked into a sugary cobbler! but this year… well, we got all that and in addition, i’ve spent the last few days deciding whether or not my two big kids are covered in chigger bites, poison ivy, or both! ha. i’ve never had poison ivy, [i don’t think i’m allergic. with the life i’ve lived? there’s just no way.] so, i have zero clue as to what exactly i’m looking at when i see itchy pink spots popping up! ha! i treated them all and they’re totally fine, but oh, life is always interesting these days. 🙂
and now!!!! now i just hope my bags of berries are still good in the fridge because i am ready to bake up a delicious cobbler and eat the entire thing myself.
and that wraps up another entry in the blackberry diaries! yay!!
