PUPPY DAY IS HERE!!!
i have so so so many photos from our days spent in pittsburgh with my family this past week. we came home tuesday since we flew up, but my dad, brother, and sister-in-law are driving home today with our new german shepherd babies!
we are bringing a beautiful baby girl home, stella, and i! am! so! excited! and a little nervous, but once you’re up so many nights with three kiddos, anyway, it’s kinda like… why not?
OH! but really, why are we adding a puppy to our herd right now? like, really. why. wellllll, i’m glad you asked! because that’s the best part. we’ve kind of thought a while now about having a larger dog. probably since rocco was smaller, we’ve batted around the idea. minnie is 11 now, and can’t do quite as much these days. [she can’t take walks, and i’m not sure she hears as well… that sort of thing.] i’d love something a bit protective for when steven is away for work. and also, i come from a long line of animal people, myself, if you haven’t noticed! 🙂
fast forward to a couple of summers ago, and there was this one day the kiddos and i met some representatives from a local dog training organization at the pet store nearby. they were SO nice, and had a belgian malinois with them, showing off her skills. [this is a cousin breed of the GSD, i believe? they specialize in german shepherd and belgian malinois protection dogs!] anyway, they instructed maddalena to speak a few french words to this sweet pup, and the dog obeyed her every word! i never forgot them, and hoped we’d be able to use them one day!
and the next component is the most bittersweet, but also the most important… when my cousin passed away devastatingly a little more than a year ago, he left behind the most beautiful, adored german shepherd named luna. i know he loved her so much, and we have all been obsessed with her since we met her! he had plans to breed her, and so his family decided to go through with it. i’ve talked about getting one of the puppies since they first mentioned it [i was all hint hint: stevo for a looong time!!], and the timing really just happened to work out for us since luca is no longer a newborn! [hallelujah, i couldn’t have done that!]
then naturally, in true scioscia family fashion… the fluffy FOMO was too strong, and my brother and sister [and their significant others] hopped aboard the puppy train pretty quickly! we claimed three sisters to come south, and they’ve been sending us the cutest little pupdates for the last two months.
and now!!! here we are! waiting for our precious puppy! the second we got her in our clutches this past week, we were even more in love, and we have her little bed all set up and waiting! also… pray for us. haha. we have two weeks with her before she does two weeks of puppy kindergarten, so i’m sure it will be interesting!!
and now i present… the scioscia pup sisters!
…our baby, sweet stella! [luna means moon, stella means star… you see?!]
…my sister and her fiance’s baby, kaiya! that ear… can you even?? [they’re getting married in may, she’s their first baby! and named after his beloved childhood dog, who was also a german shepherd!]
…my brother and his wifey’s little lady, tikka! she and stella look very similar, but tikka has white under her chin! [they got married last september and already have a horse, a kitty and a mastiff, so their little circus is growing!]
…the pups’ gorgeous mama, luna!
…stella and luna together ♡
come on, puppies! we are ready!!

What a fun house with 2 dogs, 2 cats and 3 little ones! I love it! We only had 2 kiddos, 2 cats and 2 dogs at once but I would have loved more of them all! (Down to 1 cat and 2 dogs and 3 grandchildren!!)
Can’t wait for all the updates and pics!

i truly love a full house!!! it feels a little crazy right now between baby dog and baby human, but i’m aware that it’s so temporary! i am terrified of the day we don’t have “busy” around our house! and my parents are the same way… 1 cat 2 dogs and 3 grandbabes!! add in two donkeys and three horses outside. 🙂 no empty nesting allowed!
