i can’t believe our sweet little dancer has completed two years of dance class!! time has flown since she first started. she has the most joyful dancer heart, and it’s been so wonderful to see her grow through it! she’s never wanted to miss a tuesday afternoon in class, and peeking in on her while she’s there is always a sight of pure happiness. 🙂
so, her spring recital was last weekend! aaand unfortunately, we were all out of town for it. i felt so very guilty when i had to tell her she’d be gone for her recital! especially recalling her first recital that took sooo much of her courage to conquer her fears. and oh, she had been so ill leading up to that evening! it literally took so much effort to get her there and to the stage that first time. and then, for her second recital, she toootally nailed it. and then, her third! she wanted to do it, even on the verge of another winter illness. i can’t believe how far she’s come!
anyway, i didn’t quite know how she’d take the news of missing this year’s spring recital… and honestly, she sobbed when i told her! it was heartbreaking! but it actually didn’t take long for her to be okay with it. truly, she ended up being totally 100% cool with missing the recital. haaallelujah! buuuut… still! the mom guilt is for real.
at least we got the costume!! and at least we would get to do class photos! in fact… i was so eager to get her to those photos, i accidentally got her all ready and took her a whole week early. haha. you better believe she was completely furious with me upon discovering that we were there on the wrong day. but… at least she got to fancy up in her costume an extra time! right?! ahhh. but we finally went for photos on the actual assigned day! and it was good. i love the sight of her in her sweet little outfit among all her precious little dancer friends. i mean, really… nothing gets me quite like a good tutu. 😉
what makes it all bittersweet is that we decided together that we’ll take next year off of dance to survive kindergarten! i know she can always go back to it. they even offer dance at school! but right now, i just hate to think of her not dancing. i know she loves it! and i’m super proud of her last two years, growing in confidence and having so much fun. i can’t wait to see if she goes back to it… ooor if she takes the time to ride horses a little more, instead. 😉 or both!!!
we are so proud of you, our loveliest and most wonderful little rosey girl!! until next time, dance!!

[sidenote: maddalena just looked at this post, admired her outfit, and happily reminded me she’s going to probably quit dance for kindergarten. haha. guess she’s ready!]

Awww what a beautiful tiny dancer! We took this year off ( Mia’s year for Kindergarten) and I am not regretting it one bit. She diiid mention it a few times this year and that she missed it but we also had sooooo much to adjust to with a new classroom, school, teacher, friends, HOMEWORK..don’t even get me started oh the homework! Let alone remembering a snack and lunch every day! We are still debating starting up again this fall, she would like to, I have to see if we can handle it! lol And who knows like you said, maybe they will discover a love for another sport or hobby, but the tutus…ohhh the tutus <3

I can’t even with how sweet she looks in her outfit! And her posing! Gah! Such a cutie. That is so bittersweet but kindergarten is hard and takes a lot out of them. Less may be more? Plus you’d miss her too much. 😉
