so, i don’t like to ask for things. and i especially feel awkward about “prayer requests” because i’m not like, attention seeking, and i never want anyone to think that…
HOWEVER!
1. if you’re a mom, you know you’ll do anything for your babies, obnoxious-feeling or not.
2. it takes. a flipping. village! and if you’re like me and don’t want to humble yourself to the fact that you can’t do and fix and control everything yourself, having kids will sure cure you of that.
anyway, my rocco bunny really needs all the prayers anyone can offer up right now!
our whole household has been battling allergy/cold symptoms recently, kind of going up and down with congestion, but seemingly recovering… well then, long story short, a couple of days ago, rocco appeared to have contracted something extra nasty, a virus it seemed, and was feeling rotten. then he woke up after a much-needed long nap two evenings ago with the eye on the side he’d been sleeping on looking significantly swollen. the next morning, yesterday morning, it was worse… swollen nearly shut… and he was not feeling good at all. so, we took sissy to school, and headed immediately to the walk-in clinic that’s literally RIGHT by our house. the sweet nurse practitioner there wrote us a script for antibiotics and referred us to eye specialists, adamant that we needed to see them that very afternoon.
okay. yikes. i was definitely panicking. calmly, exhaustedly panicking…
OH! and simultaneously wondering how i could manage to not let this ruin steven’s birthday!! it was his birthday yesterday, and i wanted him to feel special, still, because i don’t think he loves his big day too much, anyway. but we love him, and gosh, rocco was so ready for daddy snuggles by the end of the day yesterday! daddies are such blessings. especially ours, right, kiddos. 🙂
i’m condensing a lot of misery here, but rocco’s swelling looked to improve even before antibiotics, so we were hopeful. however, he was absolutely exhausted, feeling crappy, and breaking my heart. also, getting antibiotics down 10 full grown cats would be easier than dosing this boy once he’s just had it. it’s still in his hair from our first attempt, let’s just say!
at the eye doctor later on, they were cautiously optimistic, diagnosing him with… in layman’s terms… an infection of the skin around the eye… but hopefully not having spread dangerously, as it can do, which would require hospital treatment. terrifying. absolutely terrifying to think about. but we made it home after a long day, and rocco was so relieved to be home, you could tell. he ate like a champ, and we were able to celebrate daddy with steaks and presents and pie and a movie and madd’s chosen wild west theme, as we’d hoped to do!! [we celebrated him last saturday, and will get to more this coming saturday, fortunately!!]
but honestly, we are still not in the clear here. we have an appointment to go back to the eye specialists this afternoon, and then again tomorrow… but they said if it gets worse in between to take him straight to the emergency room. it doesn’t appear worse today, but he is still swollen and uncomfortable, and i’ve really never been so completely worried and panicked ever, ever than i am watching my poor baby boy exhausted and miserable.
we could REALLY use some extra prayers!!!
so, if you would…
please…
pray…
right now. 🙂
for rocco’s healing. for the antibiotics to do their job. for peace and comfort. for wisdom in each doctor that sees him. for all of it. just all of it!
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!! we’ll be in touch. 🙂

Praying for sweet Rocco and for you and your family! It is so awful when you as a mama cannot fix everything and when your little ones are miserable and suffering and need medical attention. I hope those antibiotics help him quickly, and that no further treatment is required! Praying for your strength and courage, and some much needed rest for you and your babies. xoxo

Sending prayers to Jesus for you and your sweet baby! I can’t help but think of the old hymn, “Peace, Peace Wonderful Peace coming down from the Father above. Sweep over my Spirit forever I pray, in fathomless billows of Love.” Romans 8:28 xoxoxo
