“For most of life, nothing wonderful happens. If you don’t enjoy getting up and working and finishing your work and sitting down to a meal with family or friends, then the chances are that you’re not going to be very happy. If someone bases his happiness or unhappiness on major events like a great new job, huge amounts of money, a flawlessly happy marriage or a trip to Paris, that person isn’t going to be happy much of the time. If, on the other hand, happiness depends on a good breakfast, flowers in the yard, a drink or a nap, then we are more likely to live with quite a bit of happiness.” -Andy Rooney
…i first saw that quote on my sweet friend sophie’s blog [she is the best at loving life’s things, little and big!] and i fell in love! i’ve had it screenshotted on my phone ever since, because this just nails it, yes?! nails it all!
well, anyway! i also love love love this information about happiness + your immune system. especially the part about hedonic vs. eudaimonic well being! just proves that true joy comes from within… and that it’s essential for a healthy life!
i have to admit that some of my own well being comes from feeding my inner night owl, which is precisely what i was doing when i discovered a good little read on just that very topic!! why i stay up past my bedtime… amen, AMEN!
good news!!!! hugging your babies makes them smarter!!!! obviously, mine will be geniuses thanks to our total family attachment disorder. haha.
my favorite blog series for several years now has been motherhood around the world… and my completely inspirational friend amanda, who i truly adore, was featured this last time around on parenting in croatia!!! so wonderful and sooo fun to read!! [as her posts always are!! she’s pretty much already had me convinced that based on the cherished coffee and wine culture in croatia, i could hang in there just fine!!! ;)]
i’ve been in the market for some joggers, and saw these on sale and haven’t peeled my eyes off them yet. they could be potentially super carpool line cute, right?! [saw them on katie, who seriously just does everything cute!]
what else… oh!!! the eclipse is coming!! everybody watch your eyeballs! we are in the path of totality, so i’ve been eagerly awaiting ever since i accidentally thought the eclipse was a going to happen a month ago! but also… i’m kinda nerve! what’s gonna happen?! i mean… i know. but. i don’t know!
oh also, this is me and my zucchini life exactly these days.
well… i’m going to really be inhaling my coffee 6 hours from now, as it’s 12:30 am… but hey! my night owl is happy!!
xoxoxo

Oh fun weekend reading ahead for sure! I don’t know how you function after only a few hours of sleep but I guess it is all what you are used to! And coffee. Always coffee.
