…and serious sleepyheads at the end of a hot day! <3

there is something just so sacred and sentimental about life in the summertime!! i’m sure i was probably born for some kind of island life, but this handful of months here in the mid-south is exactly what i live all year for. for much of the other months i feel ready to get away, maybe explore somewhere new… i get a little restless! or stuck in a house-bound rut…

[although, i actually do like that we have all four seasons here! winter is just a hair too long some years.]

oh, but in the summer!! while others are jetting off on their summer vacations, i am usually happiest right at home. some complain about the humidity and the bug bites, but all i see are fireflies and bare feet… cookouts and tan lines and sundresses!

steven and i started dating in the summer heat, got married in the summer heat, and have welcomed two babies in the summer heat. and while i am sure notorious for romanticizing my fondest memories, i have to say, i think this is where we’re happiest. 🙂

and yes, yes, i’m an absolute broken record when it comes to summer, but… it never changes! it never will. and now that i get to see it all through little eyes on tiny, tanning bodies topped with golden, sunkissed waves… it’s eeeeven better!
