oh, just your average story of a girl who cannot keep from heading to the antique shop with her mom every week… 🙂
time after time, i’ve eyed these frames! the smaller one is in better shape, so i finally brought it home with me for less than $20! the gold finish isn’t perfect, so… i’ll probably paint it white?! what else is new! 😉
a car that’s a lamp, naturally! if it has wheels, he will spot it!!
…and suddenly i’m totally in love with the girl picking roses! how am i just now noticing her?! and can i live in that farmhouse?
…and how i have not yet come away with this precious, rosey tea set for m’s room i do! not! know!
…wheels! jackpot! the secret to taking a toddler boy to an antique shop. 🙂
…all the blue and white chinoiserie and such! always reminds me of some of my fav girlies, sarah and britt.
…i mean, those squishy-licious baby bunners of mine are practically pros at this point!!
so, this little antique shop on the outskirts of town, we are kiiiind of addicted to it. my mom and i always say we don’t want anyone else to find out about it, which is probably not their idea of helpful word-of-mouth, but. ha! we just love it!
this is where we just recently found m’s little pink nightstand… along with about a million other things i have in my house! seriously, off the top of my head… our antique high chair, the silver ring with the pink center gemstone that i never take off, china cabinet that i repainted, old wooden chest i keep throw blankets and pillows in, huge tobacco basket, big ole copper tub we toss willy-nilly shoes in, pretty lamp that’s also in the sunroom, faux roses for our guest room, a little white mirror my mom picked up for me that’s also in there, wrought iron bar stools we had in our old house, a couple of records, my pretty little bathroom chair that i’m going to re-cover, m’s dollhouse, a few beauuutiful antique mason jars, some little wooden cars and a few other toys for the kiddos! plus, this last time, last thursday, i got the prettiest old old old fancy metal teapot to use as a vase and that big, ornate frame. <3
apparently i really love old stuff!! haha! and please, also, let me also acknowledge how much i wholeheartedly am against junk and clutter. the thought alone overwhelms me. i spend so much time searching my house for what i can toss or donate. i crave it! must get rid of more! more!! but, i do adore the idea of having items with history, as well as using and repurposing stuff that’s already around rather than fueling the cycle of mass-production, you know?! some things just aren’t made today like they used to be! so, when i know i’m looking for something, i really enjoy looking first for something that already has a little life of its own. 🙂
i have also recently realized that i’m a little bit like this with clothing, now, too! which must have somewhat started back when “thrifting” became cool in high school. yes, that’s it! that must be when it started, because before that i totally hated it. my mom’s always been an extremely clever shopper, though, and her mom was the queen of brilliant high-end snags… so, finding a good deal is in my DNA! plus, these days it’s just too easy. my favorite FP jeans?! apparently, they don’t even make the exact same ones anymore! ugh! but, never fear… i found some more on thredup! such a good feeling when that happens!
i will say, though, i got this balloon-sleeve sweater brand spankin’ new in two colors [yes, non-discounted, new sweaters! although, it almost hurts to confess when i’ve paid full price for something like that!] and it’s been the best decision of my life. i might never again wear anything else other than this sweater. and i don’t know… i might need it in chartreuse before it sells out?!
so… everything in moderation, right! except for when i’m obsessing hardcore. then, nothing in moderation and everything in 100% obsess mode. that’s juuuust how i like it! 🙂
seriously, i can’t believe i’ve rambled about all this! what’s next, a full rundown on vacuums? wait, nope… already did that. 😉 […gosh, i love vacuuming!]

Who doesn’t move vacuuming?! Lines in carpets are my jam! That frame is gorgeous and I hear you about painting things white! I’ve been going through and selling my old decor and before I list it I query, can I paint it white? Hmmm… please tell me you got that rose tea set! I used to loathe antique stores when I was a kid, my mother dragged us to so many!! But now? As I have started collecting things of my grandmothers? Now I think I may be changing my mind. My mom will be thrilled!

How I wish I had an antique shop like that near me! I’d be there all the time too! Love those frames! Can’t wait to see how they look once you paint them.
