what gets us through january, you ask? 😉
…well… lots of plants, apparently! the corner behind our kitchen sink has become a plant colony, of sorts, because that’s apparently where they all want to be! haha! if i move them, they are not nearly as happy. i just had to move the peace lily back there because she started wilting in a north window. i have rosemary that i accidentally rooted. two baby christmas trees that i totally thought would dry up and die. my african violet going strong! mini roses that have mysteriously survived for the last two years. and a beautiful little plant called a cyclamen that a sweet friend gave me for my birthday! when it blooms it has the most beautiful pink blossoms!!
…aaand coffee for me, as usual! i’ve started adding collagen into my daily coffee, in addition to my typical coconut oil and cinnamon. it’s supposed to be great for you on a number of levels, so! here’s hoping that old hag in the mirror goes away soon! she wasn’t invited here. oh! and it took me literal weeks of deliberation, but after i remembered that target gave me a $5 gift card last time i was there, i finally made my coffee mug choice!! i just reeeeally couldn’t resist that gold on pink! and no, that is not what i would ever say to myself during the coffee segment of my morning, but i’ll sure take it because it’s sooooo prettyyyyy!
…oh, and what is a january without some cozy jammies and couch cuddles? rocco just hit the age where he loves curious george, who is personally still my favorite!! i am also extra unable to resist my little chillenpies when they are wearing their matching monogrammed jammies from christmas!
…so, ps. we watered all the new yard trees yesterday since it hasn’t rained this week. we were told to imagine we’re filling up a 5 gallon bucket for each tree, which was indeed interesting over 9 trees. what he didn’t necessarily say was to talk to the trees… but… i have maaaybe been offering a few sweet nothings to that magnolia out there in hopes that she’ll grow and grow and grow and give us lots of flowers in the spring! i love her. and hey, if the neighbors think i’m a crazy girl who talks to trees… then they have made an accurate assessment. 😉
…a few weeks ago, we came across some discounted roses at the grocery store by the checkout, and i just could not pass them by knowing that they were homeless flowers that would otherwise likely perish without ever having been admired in someone’s home! it was suddenly the most potentially heartbreaking flower scenario ever, and obviously i added them to my cart right away. and sure, there is a slight possibility that i may be somewhat transferring my emotions from all the 8 million animals i would love to adopt. but gosh, did they brighten up the kitchen!! and i was so happy. and true to my nature, i then had to dry them… because i need another dried rose bouquet like an adopted animal like a hole in the head. but WHY not!
…also!! i am turning a new leaf here in my new decade of wisdom and maturity [heh], and i have a stack of books/devotionals by my bed that i am determined to plow through and better myself with!!! i will probably update on these as i get through them. so far, rest assured is hitting the nail on. the. head. and really everyone of our generation [you know, the hurry, go, go, iphone, screen, alert, text, do all the things at once minus face-to-face interaction generation] should read it!
so, it’s friday! i’m still sipping my coffee. our minnie gal is at the groomer’s getting all fresh and fluffed up!! steven is at work having just barely putting a dent in recovery after being super sick. maddalena is asking to paint and use scissors and glue and the ipad and so many things. and rocco is certainly into trouble in my bathroom cabinet! oh, life. 😉 ta-ta!!

Oh Friday! The last Friday of the month too! See ya January! Plants help me with these winter months too! I mean I don't have outdoor trees to care for but it's therapeautic to go around and water the indoor ones. I took over custody of a Christmas cactus (?) of my Grammy's that is sooooo close to blooming and I can't wait. Because I miss flowers.
