so, maddalena hit a personal little milestone last week… one that was promised donuts as a reward!! yaaaay YAY!
and okay, wait. time out for a sec, because here is the thing! sure, i can talk all day about how we should all just grow our own gardens and eat off of the earth and avoid sugar and gluten and just about everything a donut contains and how poisoned our bodies are, la la la. my google searches can attest to these things! but… there is also nooooo denying the deliciousness of a donut, and sometimes i just want to trust that we do a decent job most of the time and let everyone have fun. and seriously… donuts. pass me an excuse to go get donuts and ugh, i’m there! π oh, but sidenote: i don’t feel this way about every donut. it has to be either 1. one of our favorite amish-made donuts [oh my g] or 2. krispy kreme. sorry, dunkin, but to me, you’re kind of blah!
anyway, there’s a krispy kreme location right by where we were supposed to be picking up our braaaand neeeeew christmas treeeeee [!!!!] at the home depot across town + aaaaaall the traffic because naturally, our location didn’t have the chosen tree. of course not, of course not, that would’ve been too easy! we are fake tree people all the way, ps! we can put it up early and leave it up as long as we desire… and we definitely did not argue with the pre-lit option this year. ’twas time!! and so, we thought, bring on that christmas cheer!!! we could totally use it!
however… when we got to home depot, silly me with my silly little suv full of kids and car seats! ha. ha. haaaaa. there was no getting that big box of christmas tree in my car! i was so determined, though. i called steven and i was all, “i’ll make it fit!” but in the end, the answer there was a very clear, “nice try, but nope!” but i mean, thank goodness for donut redemption!!
so over we hopped! except i wish it had been that easy. we sat in at least 10 minutes of traffic to go literally 1 mile. but again, yaaay, donut redemption!! and once we got there, i don’t think i’ve ever seen a child so excited about a dessert item as my little pink princess was! haha! but you know, the fun part is also watching the donuts roll around on the big machine in the back, and picking which one you want, and then they got balloons! balloons and donuts, does it get any better?! yes, it does! because mom and i also had coffee! decaf, though, because it was too late for caf caf.
it was sooooo delicious. i literally wish i could eat 10 donuts right now.
…and no, rocco did not eat that whole thing by himself, as i was all too willing to help with 90% of it! i’m not looking to demolish his entire gut flora population juuust yet. π
but… donuts, i love you! christmas tree, i love you!
and yesss, we finally got her over the weekend! steven went and picked her up with my car emptied of car seats… and i suppose since donuts aren’t his thing, he thought, “heck, why not grab a ginormous new television while i’m out?” so, you see, we all have our weaknesses! wanna have a good time? give us a call, maybe we’ll enable you! as long as you promise to take your probiotics, that is. π
Mrs. Snyder says
Love this! Donuts every once in a while won't hurt anyone, even the tiniest of little ones. I am the worst at letting my little eat anything, so long as he is eating. He is not a big eater at all, so if I can get some calories in him, I do what I can. Hopefully he outgrows this stage of not eating.
What probiotics do you use? I am looking for the best out there for my family, and am curious about the one(s) you prefer.

oh, i so understand the worry when they don't eat!! i always get freaked out. whenever rocco does that, i'm like throwing cheese at him because i know he likes cheese. haha. i'm using powdered baby jarrow-dophilus off of amazon for him and have since he was an infant. for the rest of us, i order from nature's sunshine!
Laurie Olsen says
Haha oh love this! I'm a huge fan of enabling! But I'll follow Dr. Bishop's orders! It truly doesn't take much to make a magical night for the kids does it? A little donut. A little ballon. Love it!

ha!! to deviate from the topic juuust a hair… i always joke with steven that if only i'd put in the years for a phd i'd have the best excuse to go by my own last name. #pagingdrscioscia

These pictures are sooooo cute!! And now I need donuts.
LifeofCharmings says
thanks lady!! π and gah, me too. i need donuts every day.
Amanda Marshall says
Haha I need to adopt more of your sugar and gluten no-no attitude but when I make a treat I want it to be a real treat!!! So alas. Maybe one day I'll get there!! And HOORAY for tree hunting even if it didn't fit this time!
LifeofCharmings says
well i don't know, maybe you have better flour there, though? even organic wheat products here have glyphosate and that's mostly why i'd choose a gluten-free option. but make no mistake… i am *in love* with bread!!!! and as for sugar, ha! i try to buy the unbleached/organic… but heck, pass the cannoli, i'm pretty much just screwed in that department most of the time! π π
