last saturday, after a full week of me and the little bunnies being sick and totally lame-o feeling… we were soo ready to get out and stretch our legs! so, while steven’s saturday plan was going to involve home depot and lawn mowing… the rest of us decided to pick up my wonderful, beautiful sister, christina, and headed to the zoo!! yaaaaay, the zoo!!!!
of course, it wasn’t that simple, because as soon as i got in my car, i realized that i needed gas. then as soon as i got gas, i realized my tire was majorly low on air, despite having air put in it just two weeks prior. so, i stopped at the farm for more air in my tire… and as soon as my dad went to fill it, he realized there was a screw in my tire! oh, hey, screw!
can’t let a little screw keep us from our saturday jaunt with our chrissy, however! a little more air to hold us over… maybe a little biebs through the speakers… and we were off! [it’s a super slow leak, my pressure light hasn’t even come back on yet! but don’t worry, screw tire is on the list for this weekend.]
[hyacinth macaws – that blue is so gorgeous!!]
[this guy was totally killing me!!! can we get a meerkat, please?!]
[saddle-billed stork! is this where babies come from?]
[those FEATHERS!! i will never get enough flamingos in my life! and i might be claiming them as my new spirit animal.]
[one of the beautiful clouded leopards!]
[oh, i love my little crew SO much. and they were all about that bamboo!]
[it was sooo hot, we kind of just had to go ahead and break every healthy eating rule known to man and indulge the little bunners in a childhood fav… dippin’ dots!!]
[pet a snoozing kangaroo, and what else do you need in life?!]
it must be noted, as well, that maddalena got to pet a snake and i was super proud of her!!!! she was pretty proud of herself, too, because out of all the animals we saw, she kept telling everyone after that she touched a snake. haha! and mr. rocco was pretty cool about his whole first trip to the zoo! i think he miiight have loved the bamboo the most? and he about dove straight for the giant fish! oh, it seems like just yesterday i was taking maddalena for her first zoo visit at the very same age!
also, i really love how shaded so much of it is there is because of the gorgeous, tall bamboo! this isn’t the same zoo we grew up going to… it moved at some point to the zoo at grassmere… but i remember the old zoo just being so huge and so hot. maybe that was just my perception as a child, i don’t know! but now it’s just such a peaceful and beautiful and all around happy place to stroll.
[okay, and to all the kids and adults at the zoo staring at your iphones catching silly pokemon… FOR SHAME!!! this is the zoo, you guys! it straight up hurt my insides to see a child standing in front of real animals going crazy, shouting, “i caught a pikachu! PIKACHUUUU!” i mean, a pretend creature on your screen over all these incredible live animals? that’s just sad!]
oh, aaaanyway! til next time, zoo!!!! and we love you sooo much, christina!!! thank you for coming with us!!! man, i love me some sister time. <3

So glad you guys are feeling better! These pictures are amazing! I totally feel you on the Pokemon situation. We have this beautiful duck pond by our house and people are literally walking around it now at all hours of the night staring at their phones. It's disturbing!

Ugh. I do not GET the Pokemon obsession. This world is full of beautiful things and interesting, wonderful people and the last thing anyone needed was another excuse to not look up from their phones.
Such a fun day at the zoo!! Flamingos are my fave too. I'm in complete admiration of your little lady TOUCHING A SNAKE. She's far more brave than I!

Love, love, love those denim ruffled shorts! You wear them so well! We have yet to go to the zoo this year. It's been sooo hot! Can't wait for the temps to break so we can go before school starts!
