it’s hard to believe it was this time a whole year ago that steven and i were on the hunt for a new home to move our growing little family into! fast forward and here we are… all settled into our home! with habits and routines and systems for how we do things here. it’s taken a lot of hard work, but it feels sooo good to have come this far!!
we knew going into the whole transition that there would be some challenges with our upsize. we were moving from a cozy little one story home, where everyone was super close together no matter which room we were in, to a larger two story house with the children’s bedrooms on an entirely different floor than the master and the main rooms! since we had a little lady who was quite accustomed to her one way of life, and a new baby who was napping and waking around the clock… gosh, i worried endlessly about how our new space was going to work for us! i mean, we needed the extra room, but i was literally terrified. and we were prepared for some serious growing pains.but guess what? it’s been AMAZING!!
[a little skating practice in the sunroom while brother naps in his bedroom! i am soooo proud of her!!]
now, instead of making everyone whisper and avoiding all noise-making activities and chores while one or both of our little babers sleeps… we can play! and talk! watch shows at regular volumes! it’s all mind-blowing, really! one of the best things, too, is that during the day, maddalena and i get quality time together while rocco naps, rarely having to worry at all about noise being an issue. it’s so wonderful! and seriously such a relief.
however! the fact that this house is so noise-proof means we have to make it a point to stay connected with our babies when they’re in their bedrooms, day or night, awake or asleep. and over the last four years, with our two different houses, each of our family’s homes, and each of our family’s vacation homes… i’ve now tested out at least 6 different monitoring systems!
it’s safe to say i now know what i like in order keep eyes and ears on my little bunners at all times!!
[chatting with sis while she shows us what she’s been playing with in her room! he could not stop laughing.]

This is so timely — we are just about to be in the exact same housing situation you've described! I've been on the hunt for a great multi-camera monitor for this very reason!

I don't ever want to give up my monitor. Back when it was just Letty we had only the audio one and it was fine. Then when David was born we put it in the hallway and it picked up their sounds and movements. Same with Dom. I am so envious of my sister and sister-in-law's video monitors!! I would do anything to watch my kids play and spy on them all night long!
