you guys!! i nearly cried a few evenings ago when i realized that the princess bride is on netflix!!! how long have i not known this?!!!! best. movie. ever!!
[and actually, i could get way too in-depth here, but i realized that over the course of my love-story needs, the timeline progression looks like this… early teens: the princess bride -> later teens: the notebook -> early 20s: outlander. ooh yes, a natural increase in story complexity, and a definite theme there!!]
aaanyway! we’ve all been down with nasty colds for the last week. i am not the person that does sick well! and usually i am not the person that does sick at all. i’m always all “ooooh, you’re sick? okay, we’ll just be over here snuggling with our immune systems! see you in a month!” humble pie on the menu this week, yum yum!
so, on tuesday, when i felt my absolute worst, my love came home from work that evening [which was gift enough at that point!] with surprise soup in hand for the sick and weary [me! okay, i shared with the bunnies.] and we sat down to the princess bride! aaahhhhh, hallelujah! the perfect sick evening plan. and oh, that movie is such a classic, isn’t it?! maddalena was instantly in love [we forwarded through potentially scary parts]… and steven and i had fun remembering all the little moments that had slipped our memories since no longer using vhs or dvds. [siiiigh! we should really just get a new dvd player. honestly.]
now… i couldn’t help but notice that my husband dearest was just a little too entertained by the part where westley, still improperly identified by buttercup at this point, acts for a sec like he’s gonna give buttercup an old-timey backhand for being a strong and sassy lady. mmmhm. i saw that smirk! reeeal cute, babe! so i said, “ahem, darling! please do remind me of the last time you said to me, ‘i will always come for you. this is true love! think this happens every day?’ because i’m just really having a hard time recalling our last conversation that went like that.” π #yepthatswhatithought
but, seriously! that is the. meltiest. part! no, not the near backhand. the true love.
and, ooooh, you see, my prince charming has to love his sassy lady because she folds his laundry. she folds his laundry, he brings her soup! π okay, okay you wanna see true love!? i’ll show you true love…
[…hmmm, babe, ya got a little somethin’ there. allow me! *sparkly heart emoji*]
yep, true love is being a human toothbrush. true love is a soup pickup after your long work day. true love is patience, a little appreciation. and true love is definitely the fact that i didn’t even squirm last time he put his feet on me knowing full well that i hate adult foot contact.
THAT IS TRUE LOVE!
[also, i kind of consider the success of our children’s adorableness to be further evidence of our solid compatibility!!]
for more inspiration, just come on over. we’ll be here til death do us part. <3
*rides off into the sunset*
*and by that i mean, heads off to wash vaseline off the head and arms of our beloved secondborn who has been dabbling in the diaper supplies*

happy weekend!!!
[ps! i totally used to have a photo of westley and buttercup as my computer desktop when i was younger. looking at it again, i’m almost positive she’s about to pick something out of his teeth…]
[pps! i love you and i’m thankful for you, babe! yaaaay, weekend!]

You two. The cutest two charmings ever! That movie I only ever saw in college and I think it's one of those that I was like Uhm…. Do I need to be drunk to get this? But then I watched it again and definitely saw the appeal! And hey I mean laundry and soup IS love. And adult foot contact. Never. Ever. Ever.
LifeofCharmings says
ha!! a beverage probably wouldn't hurt. π there is a lot of comical satire going. and steven and i have both always like a very dry, quirky humor. haha.
