i’ve always thought it so important that your bedroom be your own cozy, peaceful sanctuary! which, honestly, has taken a little while for me to feel about ours in this new house. especially since master bedroom nesting didn’t take first priority! for the first little while, it often felt messy and disheveled to me… we moved in with a baby, the bed went unmade, the portacrib stood next to my side… plus, it’s naturally a home base and landing spot for so many things throughout the day! not to mention, we downsized just a little bit in bedroom space compared to our room in our last house. [although upgraded in bathroom and closet space! so yay!] but life is full of adjustments, and we’ve come such a long way! at this point, i feel like we are officially cozy in our little corner of the house!! which makes me so so happy.
i loooove our softest-ever sheets with the perfectly coordinating embroidery! they’re my favorites, by far. also, funny thing… i accidentally discolored our old ivory pillow shams in the wash by throwing bleach in… they turned pink! so, i started my search for new ones. i knew i wanted something soft and simple, but wasn’t quite certain about what i wanted to invest in for the long run… then i found these amazingly-priced ruffled ivory shams that go perfectly with our matelasse coverlet! hallelujah!
on my bedside table… a couple of casey photos, one of my favorite peony candles, and the prettiest proverbs devotional! these are the prettier things, of course. i also have a clock and typically our baby monitor. π
one of my favorite nesty little home items on this whoooole planet is a pretty throw blanket, and i try to keep one in every room!! i love the way they look draped over a chair or bed or sofa… and i love that moment when you’re chilly and need to snuggle, and hey! there’s a cuddly throw right there! except then i’m also kinda like, don’t mess up my good throw blanket! π we recently received this gooooorgeouuus eileen fisher cozy knit throw and matching pillow from one of my very favorite companies of all time, garnet hill… and i’m IN LOVE. i mean, these are thick and soft and just all around incredibly stunning in person. and the color! swoon! basically, if i seem to go missing this winter, be sure to check underneath this blankey because thaaat’s where i’ll be hibernating!
and oh! see that gorgeous lavender? sweet gal, bianca, sends a beautiful bundle of dried lavender with each of her with lavender and grace custom pillow orders!! of course, we have one of her pillows in here, too, just wait!
stevey’s side table includes… books that i put there to not read and books that i put there to hopefully read. ha! in all honesty, though, we both read a lot on our kindles. but also, he has the coordinating boy proverbs devotional, which i love!
plus, a honeymoon shot and a lakeside shot. side story: there was this one night maddalena was feeling really emotional about daddy going to work, and she kept looking at that photo of him holding her by the lake and crying because it reminded her of him… and bless her heart! he was with her as she was crying! he wasn’t even at work. but her little loving heart, oh it feels so much! and ps. i am slowly getting more rocco photos framed around the house! i promise!!
my dresser is topped with photos, a florentine tray from… where else… florence! my jewelry box, another favorite candle, and a faux peony! also this amore ring dish that you can’t really see but it makes me happy.
the photo of maddalena just born has my mom’s hand and my hand fixing her little hat! <3 and the smaller is a photo of my grandmother when she was young. she was so beautiful. also, this love + rose spray – obsessed!! and my little monogrammed lucite jewelry box was a high school graduation gift that i have always just adored.
this corner is steven’s chest of drawers! or, his “manly chest,” as i am always tempted to say, haha. so, i hung our wedding invitation! in case he forgot that we’re married. also, the snickerdoodle candle we got years ago from our best friends and it’s the kind you can smell just by walking by! it makes me happy since it reminds me of them and old times back when we were neighbors. he also has a personalized wooden box up there that he got as a groomsman’s gift once… and the tiger i painted for him in college! rawr! obviously, it’s an auburn tiger. π
i just love that our room is a place where everything has a story… and i love that it’s a place where our whole family can be together to make more stories. and read stories!! king size bed forever!
and see?! i love the way that big, chunky throw pretties up our little corner chair when it’s not in use!! ahhh, drapey success!
also, our beautiful grainsack pillow, oh i just love it so much. the minister who married us 8 years ago ended our vows in “because i love you,” and i seriously had no idea how much that simple phrase would mean in the long run. to have our pretty, fluffy pillow with that very phrase means the world to me!
and naturally, above that is a painting i did of my casey man. i just love waking up and seeing him first thing!!
as it came down to it on moving day, there was really only one wall that we could fit our bed and side tables on in this room and make everything else work around it… but hey! it sure fits like a glove!
aaand in keeping with tradition! a before and after of sorts! which is really just a… we repainted, installed sconces, threw down my favorite rug [we have three of this same pattern upstairs, and two in a different color downstairs, ha!], and then made our hugeongous bedroom suite fit, placing our bed on the opposite wall. π

so, there it is!! our cozy respite. i know there are a few more touches i will definitely add… i’d love a new long, ruffled bedskirt, and i’ve always wanted some version of my favorite love is patient sign, but i don’t know where… anyway! nothing pressing. so, today! this is it. π
[thank you, garnet hill, for the chunky throw & knit pillow, and thank you to bianca for our custom grainsack pillow!!]
