last friday, the little bunbuns and i went with our bestie mama/baby team over to cheekwood to let the little ones romp around and check out the international playhouses they have set up for the summer!!
i absolutely love it over there, and we couldn’t wait to check out this installation with all the babes. the exhibit includes six little houses set up throughout the gardens, designed by local design firms to represent different places around the world that the cheek family apparently visited in the 20s and 30s. so neat, yes?!
anyway, it was wonderful! so so wonderful. the girls had an absolute blast running around together, the little babies remained adorable as we strolled, and the moms laughed and talked and marveled at it all. theee best.
monsoon pavillion • india! this was such a fun one to start with. the umbrella ceiling? the swings inside?! we were immediately in love. gosh, it was so beautiful!
parallax • spain! oh-so peaceful, and i loved the inside photo. but it was such a bummer that the ladder was apparently broken on it!
juego tejido • chile! a totally fun treehousey deal! the little girlies loved running up and down the length of it. and of course, we let the babies out of the strollers to practice their walking skills, too. 🙂
casa d’espanya • another spain! i thought this was sooo beautiful! however, the girls’ take on it was along the lines of, “this one doesn’t do anything!” whatev. i loved it.
trains!! the trains are actually their own exhibit, and oh. my. gosh. they are the best! the whole setup with all the little houses and bridges and everything is really amazing. we could’ve gone just for this reason and been happy, i think.
this little housey just goes with the trains, i guess, and it’s the cutest thing EVER! the girls ran in and out a hundred times and i just totally stood and stared at the adorableness of such a little cottage! can i move in, please?! i mean, honestly! so, i asked maddalena later on what was inside that house, and she said there was a table and some chairs… then added, “but… it wasn’t like, a actual house. it didn’t have a tv or remote controls.” hmmm. we’ve maybe done something wrong there. haha.
the beautiful cheekwood grounds and mansion! such an entirely lovely place to spend an afternoon.
okay, okay, OKAY! i cannot even contain the love i have for my new gladiator sandals. i’ve seriously had my eye on these particular ones for so long, but had definitely not pulled the trigger with all the house things there are to spend money on for us right now. but then! can you even believe! i was perusing tj maxx on one very lucky afternoon and there they were!! discounted, at that! it was destiny. maddalena was all “mom, i willy think you should get them!” and ooh, once i tried them on i pretty much knew they were never coming off. so, there you go. shoe love true love.
kyūbu • japan! interesting, yes? i do find the design to be very soothing to my need for visual order! however, i think maaaybe the bigger hit, here, was the turtle hanging out by the water… which quickly dove in when lucy named it stella and poked it, apparently!
aaaand the biggest hit of all!!! edinburgh castle! • scotland! of course! our little princesses were head over heels for this castle and we spent probably close to an hour letting them play! i took my little prince rocco inside to check it out and it was definitely cool. there was a little jail area, a throne, pretty paintings! quite a little castle! such a dream!
so, yaaay, yay! there’s another successful cheekwood outing for the books! see also: light and the pumpkin patch! [oh my gosh, looking back at those… my babies have grown so much!]
