in light of our anniversary this week, i’m throwin’ it way back just oooone more time!! because year after year i look back at our wedding photos, while the shots from our pretty jamaican honeymoon collect digital dust, all hidden away in the dark corners of my hard drive! but… today! is the day!!
oooh, to be honeymooners… <3
[although, i think actually a honeymoon is just a fancy bit of recovery time from wedding exhaustion, and a little cushion before real life hits you in the face! especially necessary when you wed as children. ;)]
for our beautiful honeymoon, we stayed at the royal plantation in ocho rios, jamaica! it was seriously incredible, offering aaall the tranquility and meandering peacocks your dreams could ever desire. i’m sure it’s evolved a bit in 8 years, but gosh, the gorgeous, genuine plantation feel there, inside and out, was just so us and so so perfect. i loved it all from the very first second!
so! the morning after our wedding, we had a ridiculously early flight… [um, side eye, new husband!] and since we got married on 6-7-08, quiiite a popular wedding date, apparently! our flights were hilariously filled with newlyweds. after two plane rides that i mostly dozed through [i barely slept the entire week before our wedding!], we landed in montego bay, i think? where a private driver picked us up at the airport, offered us red stripe in the car, [why thank you!!] and drove us an hour or two to the resort.
we were greeted with smiling faces, two glasses of bubbly adorned with sugar cane, and given a room with such amazing views! the beaches were hot and peaceful… the music was islandy… the food was delicious! also, we still talk about our favorite beach butler, cleon, who would spritz you with rose water and serve you a mangosa! and ahh, mangosas… those are definitely a tradition we keep around for our poolside days!
…ahhh, makes me so happy.
[ps. the blonde! the babyface! the iphone quality actual camera! things sure change quickly, huh!]
ALSO! we couldn’t help but notice that in this last [best!] season of the bachelor… one of the places where they filmed was the royal plantation!! we were so excited to spot that! what a happy place to fall in love… sorry, jojo. 😉 but yaaaay, us!
and finally! when i stumbled upon our little video clippies, i figured i might as well go ahead and compile them so they don’t get lost forever and ever and ever!
jamaican honeymoons for liiife! and in case you’re wondering, you can buy some of those “so hot and so mushy” beefy patties at costco! they’re definitely pretty yummy, even if they do contain a little MSG. 😉

Oh huh I am sure you are so tired of hearing about the blonde. But! So blonde! Love all those fun clips. So smart to put them together like that. David watched it with me and was all concerned for you with those hot mushy things. Annnnd he thinks the peacocks are a snapping goose. All the eye rolls for my obsessed son. Haha!

hahahahah this just made me laugh!!! they did tell me "don't touch heeeem" in regards to the peacock, so, basically a snapping goose!! and i was just saying the other day i wish i could have all my [parents'] money back on the years of blonde blonde blonde root touch ups and highlights! haha!! not that i didn't have fun as a blonde, i so did, but just because i'm cheap and stingy now. 🙂
