i’ve become really, sooo in love lately with the idea of antique book page style artwork! first of all, i’m a quote fiend. like complete and total. since high school. i have had a running word document of favorite quotes since i was 14… and then there came the tumblr stash… and then there came the pinterest boards…
i have a lot of quotey favorites, let’s just say, and i take them OH so seriously. i mean that. wanna talk about love languages? well-worded validation, fill my soul!
another thing that is currently aiding the float of my boat would be anything that baby girl can participate in! not only is it good for her, but it actually helps me. i adore that. she says things like “we’re a great team!” and it’s just the very best.
so… antique book page artwork!
what to gather: printer paper, paint brush, fresh coffee, baking sheet, printer, 8 x 10 frame
1. brew some coffee, lay printer paper on baking sheets, and enlist a little helper to lightly [or not] paint printer paper with the coffee. she would have done this all day!
2. using a very loooow temperature on your oven [like, the lowest. mine doesn’t go down to 100, but it will go to like 117 or something odd like that.], you can stick the sheets in for a little bit to dry them out. but don’t leave them unwatched and don’t leave them in long! and oh, they come out so pretty. 🙂
3. i like to stick the paper in a book for just a little bit to flatten it out. then you use the paper in your printer!! obviously, you can print just about anything, but for my purposes, i designed some book pages in microsoft word using my favorite quotes. the dr. seuss one was actually my senior quote in high school. still stands as a top fav!
4. oh, i hated to trim off the pretty edges! since the edges dry out the fastest they had the best look to them. but! had to fit the pages in the whitewashed, driftwoody frames i picked up at michaels.
5. and ta-da!! for me, they are simple, peaceful, happy little reminders, and that’s just what i wanted for the area they’re in down the kids’ hallway. and i made a teensier one in a fancier frame for the sunroom!
xoxoxo
