that being said, we’re all still healthy and happy and ready for spring! the word “landscaping” has even been thrown out in reference to our blank slate of a back yard and that gets me way, waaay excited. additional words being “plan” and “beach,” and don’t even get me started where those are concerned!!
initial ‘fession being ‘fessed, i will now toss out these additional things:
i’ve thought a lot about this, [well, for what it is] and… i miss the old taylor swift. like before she was all feministy. although, iβm sure enough not-getting-the-fairy-tale will send any girl into a fiesty phase, right? every girl deserves her phases!
okay, i’ve gotten better as my years force my flexibility, but i saw this linked on a blog somewhere and YES! this is how i feel any time company is coming and just like, yes. especially where throw pillows are concerned: “i want these things looking like microwaveable popcorn three minutes deep!”
also this: when you’re so tired you feel almost nauseous, so you cozily nurse the baby to sleep in bed… and as you start to accidentally nod off, yourself, you almost drop your iphone right onto your sleeping baby’s head. your cat like mom reflexes do not allow it, but then you remember you have to put some laundry in the dryer, so you tear your weary self from warm, perfect comfort and reluctantly put the sweetly sleeping, cuddly, snuggly baby in the cradle. you fold laundry. you move laundry. you then change the crib sheets because you have the chance. and then before crawling back into bed to pass out, you think it’s a good idea to rub something called “bottom balm” on your dry, cracking hands. it doesn’t rub in very well. it’s diaper cream. that’s mom life, sometimes, yes?
…but truly, no complaints there, because i LOVE being a mom and wife and queen bee of the housey things. and though i get so worn out from being on the clock all day, every day, and despite what it may look like by the end of the day when people are zero percent thrilled with dinner options yet again [whatever, right, my husband loves his frozen-themed chicken nuggs from costco ;)], and then most of our heads are hitting pillows all in one bed… i try hard, and i really don’t stop except to maybe take 2 sips of my coffee, [which is necessary for us all to survive, let’s be honest], and i really question on most days whether i ultimately just suck at life or not… but! every morning is a beautiful fresh start and my people really complete me. π
on that note, i’ll probably mention this in a future discush on house things, but we now have five, FIVE of my favorite safavieh rugs in our house [love!!! i mean it, i love them.] and my obsession does. not. end.
i ate a cookie for breakfast yesterday.
well, happy tuesday!!

OK first I'm sure I am not going to be the only one to say this but thank you for sharing this honest view of mommylife!!! It's not always easy and posts like this make other mamas like me feel like we are not alone because we feel the exact same way! That pic Maddalena took of you…boy I have been in that pose myself quite a bit π And I think this end of winter time is always hard. And friend, you soooo do not suck at life! It is clear to see how amazing you are at being a Mama and those two bunnies of yours are so lucky to have you! Oh and that video, company in coming?!! I had to watch it on mute because I'm at work but I look forward to watching it again with sound when I get home because all I kept thinking was #truth while trying not to lol at my desk. Lastly we've been on the costco nugget train over here too, it's just so easy it's hard not to rely on them! So in summary of this long winded comment, you are not alone!

I feel like you need a hug. A hug and a Starbucks followed by wine. These things all shall pass. A little sun and you'll be right as rain and be like oh my that was a bad February day. I find solace in the fact we aren't alone in any of it. Even the obsessing over those rugs because they are gorgeous. Also? You're really good at making some very heavy feelings relatable with a little humor mixed in. And! I found the best dish ever last night that we made! Baking dish, ravioli, sauce, cheese. In layers. Bake. DONE. I was like so can this just be Monday night dinner each Monday? But Matt cooks so I should shut up. Anyways.

Could not agree more about Taylor Swift! People don't understand what I mean when I say I liked her better "before". I still like her music, but she herself has been annoying.
/end peanut gallery comments from me. π

I am soooo there! Today was very much one of those days for me when I wondered if I " ultimately just suck at life or not… " as you said, ha! I think we all have to remind ourselves how awesome we are regardless of how we are still in our pajamas or how much coffee we drank or how many times we may have shushed our toddler right? It's motherhood! aaand the laundry. The other day I totally washed my hair with face wash in the shower. Thanks for this read! It was encouraging to know it's not just me π
