okay, if this isn’t a total mom post, i don’t know what is!! π move over, NY fashion week! this train’s rollin’ through with ABC bible verses!! three crying-laughing face emojis in a rooooow! BUT! seriously, like, mom or not, i love this stuff. i’ve been waiting for this day to come, let’s be honest!
so, here’s the thing… when we were in elementary school, my siblings and i, we learned these little ABC bible verses – one bible verse for each letter of the alphabet – and then we performed them at the end of the year. to this day, we can still say the whole thing! well, *almost* the whole thing, i got a little rusty on a few, but collectively we can definitely say the whole thing, that’s for sure.
and to give proper credit, my mom actually handmade flash cards of ABC verses [before home printing times! whoa!] and did them with me before i ever started school, not knowing it would be a thing. she’s a good woman!
anyway, you totally don’t realize it as a child, but it’s a huge gift to be armed with scripture memorization! and little minds are just so incredibly absorbent and impressionable… it matters so much what’s going in there, because chances are it’ll be there for the rest of their lives. so, the more i thought about how my baby girl knows every word to her frozen songs, the more i realized she could actually be ready to memorize something other than… disney. ha. yeeeeah…
and so, i thought… hey! could it be time?! is it finally time?!!! i think it iiiiis! bring on the ABC bible verses!! YES!
so, i’ve been printing off a new one each week or so [we’re going at our own pace here so as not to burn out!] and sticking it to the fridge, going over it each morning. it’s been pretty amazing to see how quickly she has already learned and been able to recite the first few on her own! it’s also been a great way to open up different discussions that otherwise might not come up, too… about sin, resurrection, etc. crazy, yes? how can i already be explaining this stuff to my mini person?!! attempting to explain, anyway. π
since we started, i’ve been asked by a handful of friends to share the verses i made up to print off, so then… i thought i would just go ahead and post them up to share! so, if you’re interested! here is a link to download the ABC bible verse pages in pdf form.
[…and as a total weirdo bonus, i got to color each letter according to my synesthesia! obsessive compulsive fun, yaaay!]
we’ve had a good time with it so far… madd calls it “playing school” which is really the only way it works for us, because actually listening to your real life mom is not a good time. π anyway, if you go for it… enjoy!!

Oh I am so happy you posted this!!! I have been struggling to find a church since we moved in 2013 that I like and isn't too crazy far π Mike isn't the biggest church-goer himself so with it all resting on my I really have felt a lack of faith in our lives lately. When I saw you first post ( or maybe snap?) about this I thought what a great idea! But didn't want to ask you yet another question lol Thanks for sharing! xox

I've been having similar thoughts sort of. Well I was a huuuuge Awana girl as a kid and I thrived in that environment by obviously Letty isn't the same egg you know? But the song lyrics that girl memorizes blow my mind. I have a bunch of Veggie Tale CDs we listen to in the car and she really loves those so I guess pick my battles?
