wellllllll, hooray! ‘TIS the season, after all!!!
we usually do our christmas tree right after thanksgiving… or even the weekend before! but this year, with all the endless housey things we’ve had going on, i was seriously starting to fear that our tree would not even make its way out of the box! i mean, i had terrifying thoughts cross my mind such as, “what if we just… didn’t put it up?” and then my whole entire body would shiver and grow cold. the horror! how could i even go there in my mind’s eye?!! [okay, but that should tell you maybe how worn out we are around here?] of couurse the tree would go up!
and so, basically, i had to finish painting some cabinets first to make planned tree corner ready and appropriate… and hallelujah!!! fruition, fruition all around! cabinets finished, tree up! and it’s just what i pictured when we first looked at this house and i immediately took note of the perfect christmas tree corner. 🙂
also, as i noticed dedicated people all over my internets out cutting down their own live tree, we were kiiiind of hunting around for the perfect pre-lit number. ha! we decided, however, to stick with our old faithful mr. fakey of 7 or so years [we do love him!!] as we were too late on purchasing the martha stewart tree of my desires. [martha! she gets me.] but… considering how. much. time. it took to get the preferred amount of lights on the tree [and two trips to walgreens on steven’s part to replace dead strands], mark my words husband and santa and christmas friends all over the world: for the sake of christmas spirit, we are BUYING A PRE-LIT NEXT YEAR! hold me to it, k?
and, hey! don’t worry!!!! we totally have plans to buy a live tree when our kiddies are old enough to savor and enjoy it and know that we had a live tree at some point in their childhood. we all want that! but for now?! well, my fav part is the ornaments, anyway, all glittery and gold… arranging them to perfection for all the weeks of the season. that’s where i like to put my energy! 🙂 so, la la la, i digress!
point is… we did it!!!! christmas time is HERE!! and though we maaay have all been less than christmas cheery by the end of our tree trimming, as it was like 10pm… rocco recovering from vaccines, maddalena recovering from being sick, me and stevo here just hangin by a glimmering little thread, lezbehonest… we woke up today to one of my all time very favorite visions. plus, maddalena said she had fun, and!! it’s rocco’s first!! yay!!!
welcome to our new housey, christmas! glad you finally made it!!

So cute!! We have a pre-lit tree as well. It's so much easier! But like you guys, we will only get a real tree when we have kids that old enough to enjoy the experience!
I love decorating the tree together though! It's so much fun. Ours made it out of the box but it's still missing its ornaments. Oh well. It will get done before Christmas! Haha

Nothing makes a house feel like home like a Christmas tree in my opinion! Isn't that funny I'll never get prelit again! Half our tree died last year so I had to add strands and it was just so frustrating! And the lights are wrapped so tightly that I can't remove the ones that came w the tree so I have all these dark bulbs. Over that.

Suppppppper cute!!! I'm such a real tree lover though! Our trees in Australia are so different to what you guys get over in America. The ones here are crazy bushy but smell sooo good so it just isn't the same without that smell in the house. I can imagine how amazingly easy pre-lit ones would be. In my ideal Christmas world i think i'll have to get a tree for every room and have one real one and the rest fakeys haha! xxxx
