[christmas eve!]
[christmas day!]
well!! christmas sure came and went, didn’t it?! gosh, that always happens! too fast, christmas! too fast! i didn’t want it to end!!
so… despite getting our tree up slightly on the late side [for us, at least!], a whole section of lower lights going out on the tree not long after [oh, those darn lights, i’m telling you!], my first batch of christmas cards turning out completely orange-colored, my second batch going out 3 days before christmas [and i totally ran out of cards, ps!], my computer going kaput [with all my addresses on it!], both baby bunners fighting off colds, the weather being in the 70s [i mean, i love warm weather but it sure wasn’t christmassy!], hiding out from tornado warnings on christmas eve eve [we were totally safe, though, whew!], and one gift that still hasn’t arrived [sorry, christina!! late gifts are always kinda fun, though, right!]…
…our christmas was merry and bright!!
i thought so, at least!! we took both christmas eve and christmas day to enjoy time with both of our families, which was nice because we got to relax and savor the celebrating a little more over two days rather than scramble around all on one day. although, we didn’t quiiiite make it to the candlelight christmas eve church service this year, as we had two babies sleeping by the time the evening service rolled around, buuut oh well! we do what we can! …is what i say a lot these days! ha.while our babies took christmas eve naps, steven continued his latest tradition of giving gifts early [because he doesn’t like to wait, i’m pretty sure. 😉 works for me, though!! and oh, i have hardly taken off my new cozy ugg houseshoes!] then, we stayed over at the farm, listened to christmas music, sipped wine, watched charlie brown christmas, tracked santa, and left cookies and milk out for him, naturally! also, one of my very favorite parts of christmas eve is getting to stay up late chatting with my siblings. i really, really cherish my time with them, and on christmas eve, i really love getting to be “us” again. and hey, we’re no longer banished upstairs for santa to come! in fact, they were such good little elves for santa, this year! 😉
and so! rocco had his first visit from santa!! and of course, maddalena’s enjoyment of the whole entire season gets better every year. isn’t that the best part about the holidays with kiddies?! i think so. i mean if we can’t be kids at christmas anymore, at least we can live vicariously! also, another christmas fav: the christmas morning aftermath! gifts and wrapping everywhere. it is the happiest sight. and oh, my mom makes the most delicious christmas brunch, and iiii wish we could eat it every single day!!
so, we ate. we drank. we were merry. we were a little tired. the boys watched a boy movie. and then we went home to pack for our holiday trip with steven’s side.
fa la la! cheers to you, christmas ’15!

What an amazing couple of days!! Reindeer hineys and flower crowns and sibling nights! The best! It's so great you all do this and keep the traditions alive year after year. You know I'm a sucker for traditions. And how fast it all goes by!!!
