…aka “baby’s wocco’s woom!” as his sister so adorably calls it…
[baby rocco’s room! // the loveseat is so comfy for late nights nursing // the photo hanging behind the lamp was my first bit of inspiration // sweet maddalena [with my mom & sister’s help, of course] was so excited to prep rocco’s room for his arrival with a few things, including their first brother + sister photo and a welcome sign! // madd and i are both ob. sessed. with these oli & carol ducks that she and rocco were sent! hers have gold dots and oh myyy gosh // my sister was getting rid of her multi-photo frame so i filled it with italy photos for rocco’s room, naturally! // i bought the R at michael’s before we’d officially settled on his name, but i just knew, you know!? // bookshelf of knick knacks including a toy wooden car i found at an antique shop and a framed photo of a cross at the colosseum in rome // my framed italy map was able to stay in the room, yay! // i fell in love with the idea of a hot air balloon and clouds over his crib… after hand-stitching that R cloud, i decided the rest would be a no-sew situation, for sure // one million coats of paint later and the changing table matches the crib!! // totally armed with burt’s bees and baby pibu for a healthy little baby tush // ahhh, a happy baby boy room :)]
baby rocco’s nursery!! gosh, this has become a room that i really, really love!
initially, we weren’t sure how well the room was going to work as a nursery since it was previously our office… but as it turns out, it’s sooo much better as a room for our sweet little boy! it’s just the perfect space for him, and it definitely makes our house feel more like a home to have reworked things a bit. we really didn’t need an office, anyway!!
so, once we found out we were having a baby rocco, i was excited to get the nursery going! but inspiration was slooow movin… probably a result of feeling so so sick all winter long! then, at some point, i came back across a photo of blue doors on a big, fancy building that i took in italy [now framed in his room!], and in my head it really became the starting point for my little bambino’s first bedroom. so, i carried on with the vibes of italy and journeys and the history of his name [it came from my grandfather’s father who came to the US from italy] and of course, cute little boy shades of blue and all that! and finally, it kind of ended up all coming together somewhat last minute!
i knew from how quickly maddalena’s nursery evolved and changed that i wanted to make sure and document rocco’s little newborn setup before it all got too crazy. and oh, it’s so so wonderful to get to enjoy his room with him now that he’s born. nothing like a precious baby birdy finally cozy in the nest mommy birdy worked hard on!
