my sweet little summer bunny! she looooves the sunshine and the summer weather just as much as i do, thank goodness! and she was born in the summer, after all, so… summer baby through and through. a girl after my own heart, of course. 🙂
and so! being the summer lovers that we are, we’ve definitely racked up a few summertime kid essentials over these last few years… and i just couldn’t be happier that the time of year is HERE! give me all the sticky little popsicle hands and tiny flip flop feet, back yard afternoons and pool days… i am so ready!
1. sunglasses – obviously so important to protect those little baby eyes! but also, just tellll me what’s cuter than a little one in snazzy sunnies?! i can’t even handle it. still. i still think it’s the cutest thing ever. fortunately, our little lady is a particularly good accessorizer and really enjoys wearing hers. 😉
2. terry cover up – i always like to have a little long-sleeved cover up on hand, and maddalena loooves this hooded terry cover up that garnet hill sent her!! it’s soft and cozy and lightweight… she’s super comfy in it [and loves the pink that she picked, of course!] so, pretty sure she’s going to live in this all summer long! also, as the mom and head of clothing department in our house, i have been so absolutely impressed by the quality of garnet hill’s clothes. they are well made and really beautiful quality!
3. popsicle molds – we had the very best afternoons last year keeping homemade popsicles on hand!! aaand a little someone has already been requesting them again this summer, so i better jump on that before she figures out what the ice cream truck is!
4. sunscreen spray – i was introduced to supergoop! sunscreen a few years ago, and i have not turned back since! and while i’m glad maddalena’s 1/4 italian-ness is being put to good use since she doesn’t seem to burn too easily [ahhh mom sigh of relief], i am so in love with that beautiful skin of hers and i want to protect it as much as i can. i like to let her get about 10-30 minutes of unprotected sun for the vitamin D, and then i use the spray-on 50 all over her little body. it seems to stay on really well all day, too, in water and everything!
5. flip flops – or “clip clops” as madd calls them! from the first time i slipped a pair of havianas on my own feet, i have looooved them. naturally, the little girl of the house has her own tiny pair, and they are pretty darn cute on her little feetsies. she loves her clip clops. that is for sure.
6. garden set – i mean, what is summer if you don’t spend some time digging around in the dirt?! a bucket. a shovel. and, of course, the minnie mouse set is just too cute! bonus points for the watering can!
7. lined picnic blanket – so so great to set babies on, to sprawl out and get some sun on, to have a picnic on, to have a *pretend* picnic on, to take to outdoor events, and pretty much… anything! a big ole lined blanket. it just makes so much sense!

costco a couple of years ago i believe!! they are the sweetest little size, i hope someone still carries them!
Yes to this entire list. I would say a water table or a kiddie pool or some thing but with farm home uhm… You're covered there. That little lucky sweetie up there!
yes yes!! we just haven't had one of either of those that i can actually recommend yet! we had a really little kiddie pool for a time, but i'm thinking that'll go over much better this summer!
Umm.. the little loungers are just about the cutest thing with Maddalena laying on it!
