so, easter is coming!! yay! and last week i wanted sooo badly to do a little easter craft with maddalena… she’s getting to be the perfect age for crafts, aaaand i’m pretty sure i’ve waited my whole life for that!! so, i scrounged around in my crafty stuff so that we could make some fluffy and fun easter sheepies together. we made a sweet little mama sheepy and baby lamby set! the baby having pink legs & tail, of course, at maddalena’s request. 🙂 oh, i love that girl so much. anyway, it was a fun and quick little craft for us to do, and plus, pipe cleaners and pompoms and cotton balls can entertain a toddler for quiiite some time…
you need:
-1 toilet paper tube [makes two sheep]
-3 black pompom balls per sheep
-pipe cleaners [1 per sheep for legs, and then a little extra for a tail]
-a lot of cotton balls. a whoooole lot.
-glue [hot glue would be super, but all i had was craft glue!]
-scissors [obviously faaar away from little hands]
-3 black pompom balls per sheep
-pipe cleaners [1 per sheep for legs, and then a little extra for a tail]
-a lot of cotton balls. a whoooole lot.
-glue [hot glue would be super, but all i had was craft glue!]
-scissors [obviously faaar away from little hands]
1. cut the toilet paper roll in half
2. poke four little holes in the toilet paper roll [i used a pen] for pipe cleaner legs to poke through
3. cut the pipe cleaner in half, each half makes two legs
4. pull each pipe cleaner half through the holes from the inside to make legs that stick out on the underside of the sheep. one set in the front, one set in the back! then, bend each leg back on itself a bit and twist together to make the legs shorter and thicker
5. start gluing cotton balls all around the tube! this part’s obviously the most fun for the little ones, if they’re not super distracted by pipe cleaners and cotton balls already. 😉
6. fill in the empty tube ends by gluing around the inner edge of the tube and sticking the cotton balls in there
7. pick an end to be the front and glue and arrange three pompom balls to be the sheep’s head
8. take a little snip from another pipe cleaner and roll up one end into a little sheep tail, leaving some length on the opposite end to glue into the back of the sheep… and then stick the little tail in the cotton balls of the sheep’s tushy!

and a happy little sheepy set is born!! they’ve been romping around our dining room table waiting for some pretty easter flowers to come join them and being all cute and i just kind of love them! yaaay!
also, once we were finished making our sheep, maddalena said she was really “born out” from the crafts and had to lounge on the couch for a bit watching princess shows… sooo, i pretty much consider that a toddler success. 😉
happy easter week!!

Adorable! I love seeing the creative things like this out there. That I could never come up with on my own. They born me out too.
