on the prettiest day this week, to keep my promise to myself that i would take the opportunity to ride more this fall, i pulled up mr. comet to have a little romp around! casey has been a bit out of commission for a week or so now, as his hooves have gotten really sore. so frustrating, my poor boy! but comet is such a fun horse, and he does not get ridden nearly often enough. so! this was comet’s day. which was hilarious, because casey watched and had an absolute fit, whinnying and stomping around the. entire. time. he was furious that i wasn’t riding him! and i felt so guilty, but i also kind of loved it, because he just makes me feel so loved like that. 😉
and of course, you know who was reeeaaaally excited about riding! especially since she has her very own new little helmet that she is pretty proud of… oh yes, a little miss maddalena was pumped to have a turn on comet. so, naturally, madd’s turn came first.
…and she was the happiest little equestrian lady that there ever was! until…
…until she wanted to go over a jump. a large jump! how she even decided she was ready to jump, i have no idea, but many tears ensued until we came to a compromise, and maddalena did indeed get to go over her first ever “jump” on comet! a jump that perhaps mommy was a little more comfortable with…
yaaaaay, go maddo!! we’re starting with a ground pole at age 2, but at this rate she might just be galloping over cross-country courses by the time she’s 4. 😉 whew, okay, i am a ball of nerves just imagining that!
so, then i finally got a little time to march around on sweet comet, which felt so so good! he’s totally out of shape, the cutest chubby chunk right now, but he’s energetic and just so much fun. and then there was poor mr. casey out in the field, just devastated that he was unwillingly sharing his girl! look at that pouty horsey face. i love you so much, casey!
meanwhile, maddalena helped papa [my dad] get the mail, and gaga [my mom] sweep the barn. oh, that girl, she works hard! i’m about ready to go ahead and entrust her with the management of our household. haha.
also! my snazzy navy jacket and top underneath [and amaaazing leggings in my drawer! i didn’t ride in my leggings, but they are super soft and comfy.] were so kindly sent to me by the lovely people of boden to test out. they’ve got a brand new line of activewear now that is really fabulous. i am a huge fan of everything boden, because all of their stuff is seriously such incredible quality, so i was excited to be in on their latest endeavor! and, of course, the materials are soft and extremely comfy, and the cuts are fit and flattering. thank you, boden!!
anyway, good news! you can use the code YOGA on the boden web site right now to get 15% off through november 9th!! woohoo! they currently have red and navy in all the activewear stuff, and word on the street [aka. in the email] is that they have solid black coming in just a few weeks. oooooh la la! i love black… [and sidenote: if you are long-armed and long-waisted like me, i might order two sizes up from what you think you would normally get! i go a size up in all of their stuff so far, but i am maybe thinking two sizes for the activewear tops!]

Such a brave girl! I mean really. The heartbreak on that face! I would be a total beach ball size ball of nerves though. Can you tie a child on to a horse? Just in case? She's adorable. And quite lucky to have all that horse time surrounding her!
