i’ve said it a fa-fillion times, but as maddalena grows, i am more and more and more in love with pretty much eeeeverything about toddler/little girlhood… it’s the most fun i have had all day every day since being a kid myself. and mostly, the conversations! oh, the conversations. i try so hard to make little notes in my iphone of the funny, cute, surprising, sweet, precious things that maddalena says. a lot of times she’s saying something that i know she got straight from me or another family member, which is, of course, so cute. some things definitely come from watching curious george or barbie, haha. but often she’s saying things that are all her own, and we all look at each other like, “where did she get that?!!” and i can’t eeeeven handle it. i love. it. so. much.
and so, the older she gets, the more fun all of our little daily conversations are becoming. i usually write down the snips i remember here and there, but often the bigger ones are just too much to even record. i do try to keep a running note of everything i can, which makes it so fun and crazy to look back and see how much maddalena’s verbal skills have developed just over the past couple of months! she is very particular about how she says things. she tries her best and speaks oh so carefully, which makes it all the sweeter!
and now… a few recent verbal favs. accompanied by a few recent visual favs…
“silly kiiiiid!”
[this has been her catch phrase to chuckle and say to everyone for months now.
we don’t really call her a “kid,” so we have no idea where she got it!]

“mia has tiny boobies!”
[…after i made a reference to my mom about someone
having tiny boobies and madd chimed in about her own. :)]
“i broke nail. i broke nail, mama!!”
[every female’s struggle]
[every female’s struggle]
“…oooor mayme not.”
[she says this every time she’s just thinking to herself and changes her mind
about something. it’s such a fav. i’ll never say “maybe” with a B ever again!!]

“minnie’s itchin. oh my gosh.”
[because poor, poor minnie has terribly dry skin.]

“dis fly killin me.”
[the next day]
“really, fly? really, fly??”
[the flies around here have been driving us all nuts for months!]
“so tiny, mama… mia’s so tiny…”
[as she was sitting in her car seat, just gazing out the window]
m: “i can’t find it!”

Gah, I just love everything that comes out of her mouth. My favorite is boobies look pitty too. The whole talking thing must be so fun. I stare at my little guy all the time just wondering what he's thinking.

i can't even handle it. you two are like two peas in a pod. til i was 4, it was just me and my momma (before a sibling) and my mom still looks back on those years being so fun and it was just us two besties hanging out. doesn't get much better than that!

^^^ my sentiments exactly! i can't. even. handle it! not only is she a perfect ham for the camera but these convos are to die for. my hub's little brother is a little older than maddalena and his sayings are legendary. the other day we gave him fruity snacks (his favorite) and his mom was across the counter saying "Markian, are you going to share with me?" He looks down at the fruit snacks then back at her for a sec and said "….too far" hahaha it's hilarious because you don't know where they learn some stuff from!
