one evening just recently, maddalena and i were in the bathroom with steven, watching him shave as we like to do. it’s such a handsome and manly thing, yes? and gosh, i love how he smells after! maddalena always watches him with such big, glowy eyes [because daddy is the best and cutest and coolest], and on this night, it just reminded me of a little story of my childhood.
so, momentarily losing myself in a daze of memories, i said something along the lines of, “you know, when i was little, i loved watching my daddy shave. i always wanted to do it, too, so he used to give me a razor without a blade in it so that i could shave with him!”
…aaand my dear husband responded, chuckling, “i know, you literally tell me that story every time i shave!” oh. hahaha. okay, i guess i have told him that one a bunch, and i couldn’t stop laughing once i realized how many times i had actually referred to that ole anecdote. but hey! it’s a fond memory for me! and i was totally having visions of maddalena doing the same thing with her daddy.
it was seriously the day right after that silly conversation that i learned about the cuuuuutest little shaving set from harry’s that includes a razor for daddy [you can have his initials engraved in the handle, too!] and a rubber play razor for your little one! oh my gosh. how perfect. and coincidental! and perfect!
i mean, i kiiind of died over such an idea, and i was all *um, yes, we so need that.* also, it’s called the father & son set, buuut i think we’re all clear by now on the fact that little girls like to do it, too, huh! especially steven. he’s pretty clear.
the set even comes with a little “how to shave” booklet. i mean. is that cute or is that cute! so, maddalena has gone ahead and given her daddy an early father’s day gift this year, complete with his engraved initials on the handle and everything! i can’t wait to see them “shave” together just like i used to do with my daddy. i have really enjoyed watching them do bonding activities together lately, and i just love it, i love it so much.
and just you wait, steven bishop, i’ll probably have to tell that story again and again with each child we have! so, just prepare your best courtesy reaction, because one day we’ll be old folks in rocking chairs and i’ll still be repeatin’ all my old stories. 😉
*ps. thank you, thank you, harry’s, for sending us the sweet set! pretty much the most adorable thing ever.

What an adorable idea! I've been sort of clueless this time around with ideas…

This is the cutest thing I've ever seen!!! Abigail does the same exact thing. She loves to watch Jim shave and every once in a while he'll lather her face up with shaving cream and he'll "shave" her. It's so cute. So yea, I ADORE this!

Okay, that is adorable, and I loooove your story! 🙂 I do the exact same thing. Some things just remind me of a particular story, so yeah, I might tell it every single time, so what? 😉 My shaving story isn't as cute though: when I was about 3 years old I went into the bathroom at my aunt and uncles and started to shave myself with my uncle's razor (which he had left within reach- they didn't have kids yet haha). My mom walked in to this bloody mess and was quite terrified, but I just grinned and said, "Look mom! I'm shaving like daddy!" Anyway. Love that anecdote. And you bet I tell it every time Zack shaves too.
