well, i’ve said it once and i’ll say it again. the family that floats together…
…stays together. and oh, the happiness they have! pure happiness, right there!
gosh, i love my babes so so much. i am the luckiest girl to have these people to float and live and love with. and yes, i’m totally counting minnie as a people. of course i am!
[also, i soo realize that bathing suit there has long worn out it’s photographic welcome! haha. it’s totally true. but it’s my convenient farmhome bathing suit and i’m basically letting it live as long as chlorine and sunshine will allow. although, i’ve already changed out the bottoms a time or two. so. there’s that.]
anyway! for father’s day weekend, we kind of spontaneously decided to try for our first family camping experience… outside… in a tent… on the farm. i was joking with someone just the other day that i’d never been camping because i’m pretty sure everyone is too scared to take me camping camping. i mean, the last and only time i slept in a tent was definitely the week i attended horse camp in ’98. when i was 12.
so, hey!! a farm camping adventure! we decided to go for it! and after an appropriate amount of that daytime pool floating, the boys got us aaaaall set up for our night out of doors. the tent. the sleeping bags. the location! then we campfired. we made s’mores! it was perfect.
…then, we crawled in our tent and got all cozy!
up came the big, bright moon. to sleep went the husband and baby. and we made it! until… 2:30 am. when baby girl started to toss and turn and fuss, and we realized we maybe weren’t prepared to have the sun wake us up at the crack of dawn when i’d yet to sleep a wink. so… in a foggy daze, we grabbed our pillows [and baby] and trudged ourselves up the dewey hill toward the house. to real bed we went, and ooh, it felt so right!
but first time camping? with a toddler? total success in my book. not to mention the very best time with my very best loves! it was so much fun.
and it’s true what they say. camping… is definitely… in tents.

ha this reminds me that i have a post i should publish regarding camping vs hiking. because oh i'll hike all day but give me a warm bed please! and by the way – the suit is cute! put a filter on that and no one will ever know the difference that it's the same one 🙂

Love this! Until last year, I had never been camping in a tent. I'm more a cabin girl myself. I'd definitely say your camping was a success. It's the best to be able to be in the tent but then have the option to move to a more comfortable bed. And mmm s'mores!

i totally have a new appreciation for beds!! although, it was so so cozy! maybe next time we'll just add a few more layers of fluff… some blackout curtains… and a white noise machine 😉
