1. happy birthday to my mommy today! she is hands down the best woman i know, and there are really not enough words to describe how thankful i am for her day in and day out. she’s been through so much life stuff that i know i’m not tough enough to handle, and it kind of amazes me how she remains a sweet, smiling and sensitive person on the outside, with a remarkably strong but still sensitive inside. i sure hope my years bring me some of that goodness! i love you, mom!
2. i woke up this morning to a cuddly sleeping angel, a few chapters in my favorite book, and a newly crafted kitchen backsplash [though the finishing touches are still to come] worked hard on last night by my wonderous husband charming. husbands!! gosh, they come in handy! i am so so proud of him and the great things he accomplishes when he sets his mind to them. he is totally a man’s man and that is what i love about him.
3. maddalena handed me a dead spider yesterday and stated, “buh!” [bug, although she usually cries when she sees a spider, dead or alive… must’ve been feeling bold!], just a matter of time after she played her little piano having daintily spread pink rose pedals over the top of it first. she’s days away from 19 months and we are loving every detail of the little person she is! it’s such a fun place to be, where she’s turning into a little girl, but is so sweetly still my cuddly baby at the same time. she is the best thing. we have decided we shall not be giving her back to the indians. [did anyone else’s parents threaten to give them back to the indians when they were little? i don’t even think mine did, actually. where did that come from?]
4. i am craving a target shopping trip! is target super good right now? i hate/love when i go and am surprisingly not tempted to spend $5 zillion. but i assume that with spring rolling in, a target trip cooould be a yummy disaster to my little plastic card!
5. over the last weekend, my siblings [+2 honorary scioscias :)] had a little farm sleepover, yaaay! i enjoyed myself some wine, and later left the music and ping pong ball games near midnight to hop in bed, snuggle with my babe and read my book, leaving the youngens [+1 husband ;)] to their shenanigans… and it was maybe an hour later that steven ran up the stairs to tell me, “there was a bet lost, EVERYONE’S GETTING IN THE POOL.” he said it just like that, in the loudest. whisper. ever. and gross, it’s february! the last creatures i witnessed sneaking into the pool were definitely… the ducks. anyway, i’m still not quite sure how all of them lost a bet, but i could not have been happier at that point to be old ladyin’ up in my snuggly room, while i watched out the window at my peoples dipping limbs into the frigid waters. also, i love my peoples. they are fun.
6. note to self: make banana bread
7. when i was a little thing, i refused to say “please,” on anyone else’s terms, because clearly my control issues started really early on… but obviously i did want to be polite, so i would compromise and say “flower.” see, now, isn’t my stubbornness just sooooo endearing? 😉
kay, love ya, bye.

I love that you would say "flower" instead of "please". That just made me laugh out loud, literally, and was just the dose of humor my morning at work needed. Thanks! 🙂

I love all of this. Well. Except the dead spider and the cold pool. Amazing what some wine can do to one's sense of self preservation.
