after steven and i got married, it took me about one really blah-feeling winter living in our little housey to realize that i just cannot survive the wintertime emotionally if i don’t force myself out of hibernation and into nature, no matter the temperature! it hadn’t really ever been an issue for me until then, since growing up i’d be out with the horses in the winter, whether i wanted to or not… and then in college, there’s all that walking to class, because skipping class? who would do that! 😉 [ew, i have terrible memories of making it across campus from my dorm in the cold and rainy for the only 8am class i ever had! it was one of those minimally skippable classes, too.]
anyway, this year, one of my biggest goals is to really prioritize that handsome casey of mine, in all his 27 year old glory. [see, this naturally falls under my go-to resolution of do everything better!] so, monday, m and i went out in the chilly rain to grab the beauty boy and give his skinny tush some grain. i don’t like when his tush gets skinny! and in these polar vortexy temperatures, oooh, it makes a girl worry. so, daily grain it is, rain or shine!
but even in the cold and rainy, it does my sanity so so much good to get some fresh air. i need it so much! horsey air is plainly the best air of all, and to see how happy it makes maddalena, too? well, that just doubles my happy level!
also, thaaaank goodness for wellies.
[casey is a notorious food pan toppler.]
[you know, you know what this does to me! i melllllt!]
[my dorky face is so thankful for these booboos of mine.]

fresh air is rejuvenating no matter how low the temperature drops! I'm like you though, I have to talk myself into heading outdoors when it gets really cold 🙂 the picture of your daughter brushing casey, so sweet 🙂

Nobody likes a skinny horsey tush! 🙂
I can relate…the first year of marriage did a doozy on me emotionally, moving from the Midwest to the East Coast…it's no joke!
Good for you…go girl! You do your thangs.;)

i agree 100% on the fresh air – we try to get outside as much as possible as well, even for a few minutes. also, i'm impressed with how comfortable m is with casey!
