on thanksgiving day, i woke up to age 27. and the best snuggle of my whole life.
and so, i broke my latest rule of *no more taking photos without your makeup on, brittany!* to capture said best snuggle. it was my birthday, after all, and you can break your own rules on your birthday, i’m pretty sure! plus, gosh, i love those two beautiful people of mine.then a little later that morning, between tv parade viewings and getting ourselves dressed, maddalena managed to flip to a page in my black beauty book that i didn’t even know was there… and what an unexpected little surprise to find a birthday greeting from my grandparents, dated 1997! it made me miss so much my thanksgivings and birthdays in lexington with my mom’s parents. i always get a little emosh about that around this time of year! [my grandmother has alzheimers now and my grandfather died when i was around 11, so i had to give myself a quick no tears pep talk!] so, oh, maddalena, you magical child, you! thank you for that.
aaand then we were off to the farm for our day of birthanksgiving-ing…
[christina and her famous deviled eggs // dancing time with my bunny // my mommy slaving away like a champ in her pre-dinner slaving uggs 😉 & my dad slicing up the delicious turk // a little dress up, some light reading! // attempting some christmas card photos, haa! // yummy yummy yummy // and a pretty sunset sky]
and then, as the sun went down, my mom and sister, bless their sweetest hearts, they made sure the day went from thanksgiving to birthday! magically, gifts and gold candles and something quite fabulous called a cannoli *cake* appeared! all for little ole me. little ole brittany, the thanksgiving day birthday girl. yay!
naturally, i made sure to glitter my nails in part of my birthday prep [well, my only birthday prep, really, besides cleaning my kitchen so i wouldn’t wake up to a mess!] and also, maddalena apparently gave uncle stephen a makeover. that girl. and hey! presents!!! thank you, family. thanksgiving is kind of a weird day to have a birthday, but i liked it! there’s no one i’d rather spend my birthday with than my whooole family, so it was actually a real treat!
and then! maddalena went to sleep that night with her little arms around two baby dolls [because she discovered my old baby doll, baby maggie], and we woke up the next day ready for thanksgiving part dos at steven’s parents’ housey. yum x’s two! should i start exercising now? no. i probably won’t.
whew! and oooon to christmas we go!!!
