well, i’ve learned something just recently! and that is this: my husband can build tables. and not just any tables! myyyy husband built me, with his own two hands, the farmhouse table of my very dreams! the table our babies will grow up with. and do homework on. the table their friends will come sit at, and the table where we will have so many of our own late night wine and chats. and do you even know how much italian food this table is going to have on it over the years? huge quantities!
soo, that’s a darn attractive quality in a man, i’d say!
this was steven’s first furniture building project, really, and just leave it to my husband to set his mind on something and do it pretty much perfectly the first time around. this quality is something i so love about him! although, it drove me nuts in high school. [because i’m the fear of failure type. oldest child stuff, you know?] but also, i loved it.
so, anyway, i’ve been hoohaa-ing about farmhouse tables for so long now. i had visions, so many visions of my one-day dream table!! and i always talk about them. but i never expected to actually have one of my own any time soon. but then!! for my birthday! steven scanned the internets and thought to himself “i shall build her a table!” and then… he did! a table, a bench, and two extensions, actually! all in less than two weeks. and i absolutely loved seeing him use his hands and his creativity. loved it sooo much.
[a few shots from the whole project, start to finish!]
and then, we dined!!
also, a huge huge thank you to all the men in my life, really, because my daddy and brother have been so amazingly helpful! it pays to have a father with every man’s dream workspace filled with tools and testosterone, and a really strong and wonderful brother!! i mean, how does a girl get so lucky?
well, glory hallelujah, i love that boy i married. and i love our new table. thanks, baby. yay yay!
[now to make the rest of the dining room as pretty as our table!]
[well, actually, now to get our christmas tree up, finally, let’s hope!]

This is just so so special. It's also going to be so special to M when she's older to see pictures of the table being made with her being there and then remembering all the wonderful family times had around that table. So perfect.
