[christmas eve]
[christmas morning!]
christmas this year! oh, christmas this year…
we stayed at the farm on christmas eve like we usually do, which, you know, is kind of a sacred event for me! i sometimes still really miss the traveling for big family christmases that i grew up with, so christmas eve and christmas morning [mmm, my mom’s christmas breakfast!!] at the farm with my family… it’s my absolute favorite favorite!
so, on christmas eve, we headed over to the farm, and went straight to relaxing, turned on the christmas tunes, put on our christmas pjs, and ate a chili dinner, laughing all together with my parents and siblings. then, the boys went off and watched some kind of boy movie [??!], leaving the girls to their wine and santa tracking on into the midnight hour… and even the smallest girl was up way too late, because that girl!! she is a born late nighter like her mama, and oh, Lordy mercy, just what will we do with her! ironically, though, i was super tired, because december, wooooowee!
but anyway… i have to say, while a baby’s first christmas is the very sweetest thing, it was so fun this year to be going at the holidays toddler style!! it was definitely more laid back on the mama end of things, and that precious maddalena girl, she had a blast the whole day. she loved helping pass out gifts, and playing with all her fabulous new prezzies! gosh, i am already excited for next year when she will understand the whole thing even more. hey! only 362 more days!!
unfortunately, though, while santa claus was paying his visit to maddalena, the sick fairy decided to give steven a big ole smack with her nasty wand. gah. my poor husband ended christmas day in a nyquil coma. in bed. with a fever. and body aches. bless his heart! he managed to somehow skip catching the cold virus misery that madd and i shared this month and went straight to the flu! i mean, really? yes. really. sick as a dog, that boy. sick as a darn dog. waa, i felt so bad for my ailing hunnybunnybooboo.
still, as we shared a really lovely christmas afternoon with steven’s family, then later came home and unloaded so many new and fun and wonderful things into our little house, already filled with so much… i couldn’t help feeling entirely blessed and spoiled. what a life we have! i am thankful to no end. and most importantly, happy birthday, Jesus!! because among the shopping and shiny wrapping and gift giving and celebrating, He is the only reason for all that we do and have and love. haaaallelujah.
and ps. christmas music? it’s just really not over for me yet, okay! i don’t let go that easily! and honestly, i can listen to vince guaraldi trio’s charlie brown christmas the whole year through and be a happy girl.

Oh my goodness– passing out gifts, feeding her baby a bottle, pure giddy smiles?!
Love it! I'm so looking forward to next Christmas, "toddler style".

I'm so glad I'm not alone with the letting go issue. Our local station already gave up playing it today!! Too soon! I mean. Wait until 2014 yes? Hope Steven is feeling better! And as always. Gorgeous photos. Christmas at two is even better. Then three hits? Maybe every year will just keep on getting better and better.

For me the worst part is after that last present is opened, instead of any sort of relief it's like…drat! It's over already?! (so I totally understand the christmas jingle clinging!)
Happy you had such a great Holiday!

Lovely photos! I hope your sweet husband is feeling better. I got knocked with a stomach virus myself over the weekend, but fortunately it seems to have skipped Kevin. Fingers crossed….
