it’s your birthday!! happy 1st birthday, baby girl!! there are really no words to describe the pure joy and goodness you brought into our lives one year ago today. you are beautiful, sweet, spirited, sensitive, and all things girly. you are clever, intelligent, affectionate and fun. you have 6 teeth now! you live for all the fluffiest creatures, and you really don’t like to be alone. you fill my days with love, and you are constant proof to me that God loves me. and you. and wants only the best for us. it’s crazy how fast a year can go by, but your daddy and i could not be more proud of you, thrilled to celebrate you, and excited to watch you grow! you are really incredible, my little love. thank you for being ours! i love you forever and ever and ever! love, your mommy

last saturday, we had a little party for the birthday girl at the farm! we wanted to keep it small and simply about maddalena, so we basically just got together with family and “maddalena’s friends.” it was such a beautiful day! and miss maddalena really came out of her box with it all and had an absolute blast. she showed everyone the donkeys and horses, collected a few kisses from her little friend, lucy, and dipped her tiny fingers into her very first birthday cake. [i made a sugar-free banana and applesauce cake with homemade whipped cream frosting! she loved the whipped cream, of course.] then, she hammed it up as she tore into her adorable birthday presents… and oh, that scrunchy face of hers was out in full force! we are so so grateful to everyone who celebrated our precious girl with us that day. it was really wonderful!

…and just like that, our baby girl is a year old! it hardly seems real!

    What a beautiful name you've given her!
    I have to say too, I love how full of joy she is in these photos. I've seen so many where the child is scared out of their mind by the extra attention, the singing, the crazy decorations everwhere– but she seems to love it!
