[1. m wishing her parents a happy 5, of course! // 2. nutella cheesecake at dinner & a surprise bouquet of gorgeous roses from my love // 3. we’ve been together almost 10 years. how does that happen? // 4. happy anniversary wishes! even one from our baby girl! with maybe a little help from my mommy :)]
for our 5th anniversary this year, we decided that honestly, we really didn’t need much more than love and italian food. don’t get me wrong, okay, i love a good excuse for a fancy shmancy gift just as much as the next girl… but, in a surge of maturity i guess, we both decided that there’s just not much we need that would really make great anniversary gifts, and feeling pressure to find something to spend money on for the other person just takes the fun out of it sometimes! gifts, after all, used to be handmade things, or sentimental items passed on, and i hate to make every single occasion about something fancily purchased. i think that kind of makes it less special when you do find the perfect gift to buy someone! so, we agreed that some hand written notes and a little italian food sounded like the perfect way to celebrate our 5 years of marriage! and so that is what we did. and believe you me, there was nutella cheesecake involved.
also, you know what is almost as much fun as gifts? pushing the “make purchase” button while spontaneously online shopping. especially if it’s coming out of the same bank account, either way. [aaand there goes all that “maturity.”] [ps. i have not done this. yet.] [pps. now i am watching “treat yo self” videos from parks & rec. we died when we first saw that episode. the best!]

Happy five years! We celebrated the same anniversary this May…and have decided to give each other 'experiences' rather than presents. We go on a hike (with special picnic), take a trip to a neighboring town, etc. It has been so fun!
