one thing that i think is hard to fully understand about the wonderful world of a mama until you’re living on baby time yourself is that timing. is. everything! i mean, you’re fitting in outings in between naps, nursings, and diaper changes and then trying to accomplish as much as you can during that nap time, if nap time even happens that day [and nap time is about 30 minutes if you live in our house!]… and i’ll be honest, i still don’t think i’ve even managed to properly explain to my own husband the ins and outs of why it is, exactly, that finding a time to shower during the day is somewhat difficult. i mean, really, it just is. so, when i do get my shower in, i have tried to hone down my post-shower process to be as efficient as possible. [most of the time this includes doing my makeup in the car, which is actually quite convenient with great lighting! well, during the daytime, anyway.]
i’ve also learned a little something about myself in my “adult” life [ha! am i really an adult?!], and that is that i have always loooved beauty products and girly things, but these days what i love even more are beauty products and girly things that are also really convenient [and healthy in the case of makeups & stuff], because who has time to waste on things that make life more complicated? life is short, and i want to play! so, i fully believe that you can have your cake and eat it, too. and make your bed and lie in it. and eat the cake that you made in the bed that you made! in a good way.
anyway, about four months back, i was so kindly sent this super sleek and shmancy “italian design” hana professional hairdryer from misikko [they sell things like curling irons and such] to test out! i was excited because, like i said, i am a sucker for girly things. and really, if you tell me it’s some kind of italian-inspired, oh geez. of course i want to try it! 😉 all the best things are italian-inspired if you ask me. and let’s just say, ever since receiving this black beauty, i have yet to touch my old pink hairdryer from walgreens [which i had absolutely no problem with before, but now i’m spoiled!]… except to move it out of the way when i’m reaching for this one.
as it turns out, this new hair friend of mine… i was surprised to discover that she makes my hair way smoother and silkier than my old dryer! so much so that if it’s not too humid out, i don’t even have to use my flat iron, [which, for the most part, i only use on the front of my hair, but still, that’s huge for me]… it’s not too loud like some, and i love that it has a long and heavy-duty cord that doesn’t tangle [although it is super long for professional use]. it’s held up well over the last four months or so, and costs around the same amount as the chi hairdryer [both are near but under $200… but hey, like i said, my last one was from walgreens, ha!], so, if you’re a fan of nice hair styling tools, i totally recommend this one!
and while we’re on the topic of hair, can we talk about my other latest hair tool bff for a minute? because i just need to say that the wet brush has been a major miracle for me in my jungle-hair life ever since i discovered it. worth every bit and more of that $9 i spent! 😉
also, my hair products are some of the last things in my bathroom that i haven’t gone natural on, so if anyone has a fav natural shampoo & conditioner, i would love to know! i have a couple i’m about to try, but this mane of mine requires mucho, so we will seeeee.
*misikko so nicely sent me the hairdryer, but my opinions are totally my own. and nobody gave me a wet brush, i just love it.

I've heard a lot of great things about that hair dryer and I hear you about making getting ready easier when having kiddos!
I use the brand geovanni (I think that's how you spell it) I get it at whole foods, but I think you can get it at Target too.

i've heard great things about this dryer before…i may need to try it! i'm not sure it can handle my super curly thick hair though, but i bet it'd do a better job than my $30 target one! 😉 not having to use your flat iron is amazing though, and worth it just for that reason!

Hi! Been a lurker for a long time, kind of introduced myself over on InstaGram, but anyway… I use Alternative Caviar Moisture shampoo and conditioner. It costs a pretty penny, but my hair has never been healthier, longer, or complimented more in my life! The conditioner us kinda heavy, so if your hair is thinner, maybe don't use this stuff.
