so, we have now officially flown with our baby bunny for the first time! and then, since we had a layover on our way down to my family’s beach home, we did it again! i had a blast traveling with my little fam all that day, too. steven and i have had our share of hectic travel experiences, but this one, i have to say, i am especially proud of!
since before maddalena was even born i have been obsessively collecting and reading blog posts and articles on flying with babies of all ages. the main things i took away from everyone’s advice were:
1.) baby-wear through the airport. best thing ever. we flew through security with maddalena on me in the ergo and everything. it’s her happy place, too, so that was super easy.
2.) pack extra diaps, extra shirts for mom & babe, just in case. we did one diaper change between flights. no untimely blowouts, hallelujah. there was once a time in our lives where spitup would’ve been much more of an issue for us, but not anymore!
3.) bring distractions. i put away a few of m’s little knick knacks the week of and packed them in a little makeup bag for when she got antsy.
4.) bring little snackies. m nibbled happily on mum-mums.
5.) nurse during take-off and landing. so moms, wear a light scarf and take the window seat! i tried to do this, but i ended up just nursing as she needed and she would fall asleep for a little while. she didn’t ever seem to notice her ears bothering her, although i know some babies do get bugged by the ear popping situation. oh and! 6.) we did partake in the pre-board option to let m play in the aisles before people got on and ensure some good luggage space overhead π

all in all, i really think m had a great time! i mean, she’s not so big on direct contact from strangers, but she does love herself some people-watching [who doesn’t!], and she thought the plane was super exciting… even screaming with delight over our bumpy landing at one point, which i think possibly frightened some of our fellow passengers. ha! oh and windows! windows are her jam.
so, woohoo! maddalena earned her wings like a sparkly little jet setting champion, and i was one happy baby mama. and here we are now, getting ready to hit up the skies all over again this evening to head home, sooo here’s to another smooth air adventure! feelin’ confident. let’s do it, babes.
and! ps. i’m chattin’ about sweet little mommy things with the wonderful miss morgan on her bloggy, a treasure hunt, today!! yaaay! so check her out π

airports and flying are two of my favorites…so naturally, I really took to this post. I sat behind a baby on a plance once and said baby had what you call an untimely blow out. Let me just say, I'm so happy that didn't happen to you guys and the rest of the passengers. π

Great tips! I always bring some colouring pencils and paper for my boy. Thankfully your girl didn't scream throughout the entire flight! That would have been a nightmare. :/
she's a great traveller! π
