we had a really good valentine’s day this year! well, except for the way it ended, but i’ll get to that. anyway, it was a great day, and not because we planned anything huge and fancy, but kind of because we did the opposite. we agreed to keep it minimal and low-pressure, no big gifts, and our favorite meal for dinner. [i’m not one for huge money spending on valentine’s anyway… my love don’t cost a thing. thank you, j-lo.] so, our day looked like this…
…steven picked out sweet roses for me and maddalena…
…m and i made homemeade chocolates for steven…
…we gave maddalena a big magical unicorn for her first valentine’s day!
…kitty joined in on the snuggles for our afternoon nap…
…we had our first valentine’s family dinner! pasta with homemade meatballs.
and you know, b-milk for the smallest one…
…mama had wine, baby did some walking…
…and then, we put on pjs and watched a movie!
we watched perks of being a wallflower, which we really enjoyed. we decided that life was really good and we were happy, and then put daddy to bed early, as we girls do on week nights. well, and on a lot of weekends. then maddalena and i snuggled on the couch for a little bit to the sound of… dripping water? does the dishwasher always make that sound? no. nope. that sound is not normal and there is a whole pond on the kitchen floor. super! now, i don’t know about how you feel about waking your husband up after he’s fallen into a deep slumber, but i don’t. like. to do it. but in this event, i could not for the life of me figure out how to stop water from coming out everywhere, and i was holding a sleepy baby, and oh heavens, it was a real pickle. so i woke up the husband who was not happy about it all, and for about an hour he did who knows what in his sleepy state. and then, after disconnecting things and unscrewing things and pulling the dishwasher out of it’s cave hole and using every single towel in the house to sop up all the water on the kitchen floor, we all went to bed a little more frustrated than we planned on being.
but other than that little detail… our valentine’s day 2013 was just perfect.
and we hope yours was, too!

OH NO! What a rubbish way to end what sounds like a lovely Valentine's Day. Maddalena looks THRILLED with her unicorn too, SO CUTE! X

Aaah! Not the best way to end it … but when you look at that sweet face, it probably didn't even matter!

Ah i hate it when things like that happen and spoil a day! our boiler broke on new year's eve…bad times. but a magical unicorn? i wish someone gave me that as a pressie!
Corinne says
oh no! That definitely would be a huge downer! Hopefully it's all fixed now! We just watched the same movie this weekend as well! I liked it – although I think we were especially enjoying it because it took place in Pittsburgh and that's where we spent the last two years 😉
Carol {Everyday Delights} says
Oh no! Sorry about the ending – but minus that sounds like a wonderful holiday!

Ohmygoodness! Sounded perfect until the floods came! And I am so jealous of her magical unicorn. I need one of those!
