not long before maddalena was born, i started taking some photos here and there to capture her little room as i got it prepared… but i didn’t get to take that many before she decided to move on in! so, i thought i’d finally catch up and take a few more of these nursery photos. [when i went into labor, the dresser was all pulled away from the wall where steven was in the process of patching the drywall behind it after fixing an electrical outlet. what a man, right? but anyway, at 3am, a week before my due date, i went into labor… so obviously i was like, JUST PUT THE DRESSER BACK! and we were off to the hospital! and that unfinished wall job, well it’s just a secret for now.]
i love her room. i really do. i sat in that room so many days and nights over the summer, just in awe of the fact that i was preparing it for my tiny, unborn lady… and i mean, i just couldn’t even wrap my mind around the fact that she was there in the belly, and then she would just be out of the belly! [my simple human brain!] and then we’d just start using all the little things we were buying for the small human we couldn’t see! and now here we are, and i absolutely love getting to enjoy that room with her. i sit and rock her in our old rocking chair and i just feel so at peace.
and because that whole -in the belly/out of the belly- concept is such a complex one to grasp, allow me to illustrate how that works with a little before & after i did with my iphone once upon a time for my own pre/post-natal entertainment:
right before. right after. yep. it really happens.
