looking at these pictures now makes me so emotional. but, well, basically everything these days makes me emotional. looking back, looking forward, bump photos, maddalena’s baby book, taking the rubber band off my jeans that i’d been using to fasten them, m’s little belly button cord coming off [this morning!]… pretty much all of it brings the tears.
but the whole birth experience, it’s so wonderful for me to look back on. i was blessed with a pregnancy that i could really enjoy [and i didn’t take that for granted], and when baby time came i had no idea what to expect… not to mention my doctor had left town less than 24 hours before! but we ended up with another really great doctor and maddalena’s birth was pretty amazing… july 30th, 2012 is a day i just couldn’t be more proud of. aaand i’m pretty sure i want like 10 kids now. maybe.
also, no one really warns you that adjusting back to not being pregnant is harder than adjusting to being pregnant! and can i just say that half my clothes look way weirder now with no bump? i’ve missed that bump and the secret little kicks, but i’m getting used to being without it. it’s nice to bend over, sleep on my front side and have less back pain… and now we have a little angel to snuggle with all day long. pretty good deal, you know! i like it. and i sure love this baby. and my husband… don’t even get me started. he’s a star, that one. a real star.

Congrats! She is beautiful and I love the name. I felt the same way in the first few weeks after my daughter was born. I missed my bump and her kicking inside but just looking at my daughter would bring me to tears. It's so amazing!

Yep teary-eyed also. So amazing. I don't have any children, and living through your eyes is quite the experience. I can so feel your mommy love and it's just so refreshing to see. Sweet Maddalena is a July baby just like me!!! 🙂

I am happy that you choose the name Maddalena Rose. We named our daughter that name in August 2001. My mom's ancestors were from a small village named Alberobello in Bari Italy. For a long time I was big into genealogy and researched the family tree. What I found was that I had 5 Maddalena's and many Rosa's that were direct ancestors. My Grandmother was a Rose and my mom was a Madelyn. I wanted Maddalena to be different and my wife wanted to call her Maddy which we do. However, I can tell you from the past 11 years of experience that whenever you mention her name is Maddalena, EVERYONE will say "Oh, Maddalena, what a beautiful name". It never gets old.
