my husband charming ran off with his guy friends this weekend and left me aaaall by my lonesome! [okay, it was to celebrate a friend’s graduation from med school. kind of a big deal. i approve.] anyway, i really had no choice but to take minnie and go snuggle with my family at the farm for the weekend, which was exactly what i needed. we slept in my comfy bed [well, we as in… me and minnie… and technically baby], basked by the pool, ate my weight in fresh bread, watched a storm go by on the front porch, enjoyed late night talks with my mom, and then finally slept in one day, which i have just not been able to do in a while. and, you know, some other stuff.
it is still the happiest place in the world to me. for one, because it’s home. but particularly when there’s pool time involved. and particularly when the sun sets late in the summer evenings and turns everything all golden, except for the little black horse silhouettes down in the field. and particularly when my siblings are home from college, they’ve grown up to be my absolute favorite people and i love when everyone is together. and particularly when the house smells like my mom’s freshly baked bread. and now i love to just think of how much i want our baby girl to grow up knowing the feeling of stretching your legs across an open field and the smell of horses on your hands. best way to grow up ever. and it will completely ruin you for apartment life. that’s what i learned in college. i mean, among other things.
also, we took pictures through a peephole. it was sister’s picture peephole but i stole it for a while and it was quite entertaining.
still, i missed steven, and when he finally got home we celebrated by unplugging our cable box in our own happy housey and saying a final goodbye to our gazillion dvr-able channels because we are freeing ourselves of its burden! yay! weird, right? i know. but it feels healthy.

i want to go there!
wow good for you getting rid of cable. it's really not necessary with everything available on the internet

Sounds like such a perfect time of family and relaxation! Those pictures through the peep hole are really cool too!

Your pictures are always so dreamy! When we got married, we decided for not having cable as well. It makes us spend more time as a couple talking to each other instead of staring the tv. And everything that we want to watch is available online.

We got rid of cable about a year ago! We just decided we were spending too much money and kind of just watching pointless shows because it was there. I still buy certain shows on itunes but I've found myself keeping busy with lots of other stuff. Welcome to the non-cable club!
