i saw this little yarn wrapped initial project a while ago here on evie s. and thought it was probably the cutest thing ever. also, she used the letter B for hers, which made it ultra cute to me because i love my letter. so, i finally decided to try it last week and made one for me [B] and one to put on my sister’s birthday gift [C] and i love them like i didn’t know i would! like, i want to cuddle with them somehow. it took a while to actually do all the wrapping, but it was kind of relaxing in the same way that knitting is relaxing [which i haven’t done since high school! maybe i should.]
yarn wrapped initials
- print out your [large] initial in a sans-serif font [like arial] & cut out.
- trace around the letter onto thin cardboard… like a cereal or cracker box! & cut that out.
- make smaller baby balls of yarn so your wrapping is more do-able.
- start wrapping! i started by taping down the beginning end.
- wrap about 3 layers. and yes, corners are super tricky but you can do it.
- glue down any loose ends with hot glue.
- decorate with little flowers or whatever cuteness you find at the craft store!
- snuggle with your yarn letter because you’ll probably want to.
[this girl did some super cute ones and them hung them super cutely. gosh, people are cool.]
