i was a little bit pouty feeling. i’ll admit that. and for silly little reasons that just got the best of me, you know? so, after pouting and bumming around a little bit that night [like a “pouty polly” as steven calls me in these instances] my dearest, dearest husband finally just told me to change my clothes and we were going somewhere. but he wouldn’t say where, so for about 30 minutes i kinda didn’t believe him. i faked getting dressed in my closet 2 or 3 times just trying to see if he was bluffing, which got kind of funny, and it wasn’t long til he had me laughing. of course. buuuuut finally, i changed my outfit for realsies because i’m a curious girl and i had to find out his secrets.
so, i put my clothes on and grabbed my purse and was all, “well, here we go!” and he was like, “yes, here we go!” and i got in the car like, “we’re going now!” and he was like, “yes, yep, we’re going!” and we went. and where exactly did we went?
we went to the picture show! the movies. but i like to call it the picture show because i like old fashiony phrases like that. [except when my mother calls her glasses her “spectacles.” i never let her get away with that one.] so, my boyfriend here took me on a late night movie date and i was thrilled. even when i am my poutiest he can turn it all around in a snap. i so love him so much.
also, stuff is just way fun when it’s a secret surprise. i think almost anything is fun like that. like, i’m pretty sure you could make scotch tape and kleenex fun if you made it a surprise. then again, i don’t know. you’d probably start hating surprises if that’s the kinda thing you got.
but steven’s always been good at little surprise things. like in high school he’d show up to my house on the weekends with starbucks for both of us without asking or mentioning it first. it was just one of those cute things he did that made me all “ooooh, i like him.” plus, i’m the absolute worst at surprises, so i really admired this quality.
and this one time after he’d gone off to college, he spent this whole friday afternoon on the phone with me, trying to convince me to come down to visit him at auburn for the weekend. we were broken up, for one thing, so i said no about 50 times, but all the while he was just playing a big ole trick and was actually on his way to nashville… and that evening he showed up in my driveway with my favorite pink roses in his hand! i know, right?
so, anyway, on our little spontaneous secret surprise movie date we saw crazy, stupid, love, which i’d really wanted to see and had made steven promise to take me… but then i kind of forgot. and then i remembered. and then there we were! and we really liked it. a lot. it’s such a cute movie and there were so many parts that made me howl with laughter. like, loudly. [and might i just add that ryan gosling is totally the next clooney/pitt. oh my.]
so, thank you, boy i married, for taking care of me like you do. sometimes you are so cute i want to squeeze you all to pieces, but fortunately for you i am nowhere near strong enough. i bet you’re relieved to hear that. can we cuddle? i love you.
