when dear husband is in bed trying to wind down and maybe sleep…
and while i’m trying my best to snuggle calmly, in a regular sleepytime way…
i start to giggle. and squirm. and giggle some more.
and i giggle a whole lot because life is so funny.
and steven tries to pretend like i’m the only one laughing,
because he wants to sleep, but really he wants to giggle, too.
this is precisely the situation that was happening tonight
and steven said very adamantly “this is not a slumber party.”
and i said “oh yes, it is! it’s a slumber party every night!”
because isn’t that why you get married? guaranteed slumber party every night?
and he said “but you never slumber.”
and i said “oh, but see, you are the slumber and i am the party.”
which is really true between the hours of say, 8pm to 4am
but after that i’m kind of a dud until noonish.
so then i tried to be a more mature kind of wife
and i scrunched my eyes closed and held my breath
and tried my hardest to fake sleep mode for a while, no giggling.
but i didn’t do a very good job. and i was dismissed not one minute later.
and that’s just how that goes sometimes.
and it’s totally a slumber party.
