the castle

this is the castle that we pass every time we head up to see my mom’s side of the fam in kentucky. spotting it means we’re aaaaalmost there, get excited, yay! i’ve been by it a million gazillion times now in my almost 24 years, but the routine never changes. someone says “i see the castle!” then we stare at it really really hard and try to see as much as we possibly can for the few seconds we’re passing by.

i was super fascinated by the castle when i was little. i always tried to picture what went on inside and what it all looked like! were there guards in the towers? a drawbridge? a dungeon? a moat? yes probably! but the real story was so disappointing. it was a project started by a man who ran out of money. the castle was actually incomplete. and it was like that for years. huge bummer. still, i always hoped that it was really neat and princessy on the inside and that the sad castle story was all wrong.

but here’s the bestest best best part: it’s now a hotel! it’s called the castle post and you can stay there just like little girl princess brittany has always always dreamed of! so. i am hereby officially adding one expensive night’s stay at the castle to my list of life goals. the castle! yay! i do hope my wish comes true.
