as i imagined it would be, our little bff boston trip was the most terrific way to officially start the holidays! i’d never really considered visiting boston before, but it recently dawned on me that i really wanted to. i was super excited when mary said needed me to come along on her visit!
i was so excited about visiting cheers i did not know what to do. [i’ve had a crush on sam malone since i was probably 4 years old. i was kind of hoping he’d be there.] we didn’t even go to the original one, but that’s okay, i still felt the vibes. and took a couple matchbooks. and the bartender gave us cute little cheers glasses! he was not sam malone, but was so very nice.
then we walked up and down the cute streets and stopped for dinner at neptune oyster on recommendation from the nice cheers bartender that was not sam malone. i don’t like seafood, but i ate there and was happy, which is impressive i think! our waiter’s name was vinny. i told him i had a cousin by that name, but he didn’t hear me. oh well.
after that, we headed over to hanover street so i could bask in the glory of all the italian-ness that existed there and it did not disappoint. i had a most delicious cannoli at mike’s pastry. it was worth every calorie. you just can’t find them like that in the south. [and if you can, please let me know where!]
we then marched our happy selves down a little cobblestone road to the union oyster house, which was very charming and old. it’s actually so old that it’s the oldest restaurant in america! established 1826. way to go, boston! that’s neato. [when i was trying to jump up and touch the sign outside, an intoxicated female passer-by told me that the photo of that wasn’t going to show my beauty. and that i should model “with chocolate or something.” oh, what a riot! drunk girl, you’re too kind.]
it started drizzling the teensiest bit outside and we finished our night with a visit to another restaurant in quincy market [that i forgot the name of] and the happy discovery of a hugely large and glowing christmas tree! i think i was equally excited at this vision as i was at the sight of the cheers sign. glory hallelujah. i love the holidays!
so, after waking up late the next morning and just barely making our flight, our happy boston trip was complete! boston people and people with family to visit there: i am a little jealous of you. i’m for sure gonna need an excuse to go back.
thanks for the hospitality, boston! and thanks for the trip, maymay. hearts & smiles & love.
