tonight, like a good little wifey, i was preparing a merry meal for our thursday night dinner while pretending to be an avatar with a soothing mud masque tingling happily all over my face… thinking ooohhh mmmm this cheesey spaghetti bake will just be so delish…
…and who should walk in but dear husband! just in time. and he’s so innocently carrying in his arms… a chicken. oh. and not a live chicken. a warm, yummy rotisserie chicken..
s: you’re not… making dinner, are you?
b: uhhhhhhhh… yes… i’m making dinner.
s: first of all, you have something on your face.
b: it’s a mud masque. you didn’t tell me you were buying chicken..?
s: well, i didn’t know until i saw it. wait, did you go to the grocery store, too?
b: yes, i went to the grocery store! uh did you go over to costco and NOT GET ANY WINE?
s: OF COURSE i got WINE!
and then we were a teeny bit grumpy.
but tonight’s grumpy dinner episode is just a delightful little reminder that even the crappiest of pre-marital counselors [like ours was] will tell you how important it is to communicate! it’s true.
[and then… they lived happily ever after!]
[also, cheesey spaghetti bake will be served tomorrow night. you know. in case anyone wants any.]
